Anyone else ambivalent about Thanksgiving?

I’m almost 16 and as I’ve matured and learned the history, I’ve become more uncomfortable “celebrating” it. Anyone else feel this way? How would you explain it to your parents, and people at college once you’re there?

Lots of people feel this way. Since 1970 Native Americans have gathered in Plymouth to commemorate with a National Day of Mourning, on Thanksgiving Day. (And Columbus Day has been renamed Indigenous People’s Day in many places. ) Maybe you will be a history major!

That’s what I am. Accepted to CSULB for my BA history program. And I’m loving it! Very serious and deep. Makes me more mature and well-rounded. Excellent program. I am going to be very happy. I think that college has changed my life forever.

What a great post @Russdiculous . Seriously, so nice to read that kind of enthusiasm for history. I share it  Good luck to you.
