Anyone else an only child?

How do you feel about that?

I heard that perhaps because of independence you have to make up your own fun with yourself, promoting creativity.

Maybe with sibilings your social skills are better?

Elder sibling with a younger brother here. While I can’t really say much about being an only child, I can tell you some stuff about having an older sibling.

Recently read a Cracked article about how older siblings shape the younger siblings’ lives. Though it may not be true, as the site is devoted to humor more than facts, here is what the article said:

Having older brothers increases the probability that you are gay (Fraternal Birth Order Effect)
Having older brothers can make you shorter (Mother’s womb has already been “used”, and after a birth a mother may care less and put more weight, harm the baby more, etc.)
Having older brothers makes you less intelligent (Older siblings scored on average 3 points higher on IQ tests than younger siblings)
Having older brothers makes your life span shorter (Study showed older ones have higher probability of reaching age 100, and probably due to younger mothers having healthier eggs)
Having older brothers makes you more prone to sleeping with others (I lol’ed. Younger siblings were found to have better people skills, were funnier, had increased empathy skills, and were in general more socially adept.)

Why would social skills be better when someone has siblings? …only children are not sequestered from other kids…

I’m an only child. But I was never alone. I had way too many cousins, so I hanged out with them. They practically were my little brothers and sisters. Only children will have more social skills, because they have to reach out and make friends. Children with sibling ,ay just hang on to their sister/brother, and may make less friends.
