I’m a little bit surprised at how far we need to drive for the August SAT. I know it is close to the deadline for regular registration, but I’m still surprised. We were offered neighboring states however one test center with seats is just over an hour away. The following test date in October will not be able to turn results around in time to see them before sending them for all those November 1st deadlines. Shame on me…this is my second child and I know better;)
Ah, don’t kick yourself. There are a LOT fewer test centers hosting it in my area. We have to go about a half hour away, compared to the 10 minute drive for “normal” test dates.
I think I registered my kid in late June (or early July) and found out I have to travel to a neighboring state…But then when I decided to register her for subject test, I found more options.
I guess I am lucky because my high school and the neighboring one had spots open a week ago.
I don’t think you’ll miss the November 1 deadline though because October scores are all out by the 20th for non-essay and 26th for essay. Then you can order expedited score reports and it says it will arrive in 2-4 business days. So even if you took the essay in October you could get your scores there by the 1st. Nevertheless, you may just have to drive an hour away to take the test if you want to be certain it arrives by the first; since they have waited until fall of senior year this and October are their last dates to take the test for EA/ED.
I went on College Board this morning to just see if there were any cancellations that were closer to home and found one that is 15 minutes away! I gladly paid the change fee of $29 to avoid all that driving. Now I can go home during the test or just send her in the car alone. I just wanted to say that it pays to periodically check for cancellations or new openings:)
I actually have posted about this more than a month ago to warn everyone that are going to take the August SAT1/2 tests. As there are less test centers for the August test and it is a new but very popular session, some centers have been full more than a month ago.
