Anyone else forget what they learned from their last year courses?

Hi, whenever I take a class I study like crazy for it, and eventually get an A or a B, and then i end up forgetting almost everything about it the following year. I mean today I tried to think back on my last year courses like history, art, and financial accounting but I can't seem to recall!! I feel like I'm going to graduate college and not remember anything I learned previously!

So is anyone else like this too?

Yess! i can barely remember a thing even a week after the test

I can only remember the content of a course if I go over it again shortly after the end of the course. (Like, study and take the final, put everything away for two weeks, and then think through the most important aspects again.)

Since I am a math major aspiring to go to graduate school and knowing the content in each course is essential to doing well in the next, I have to review quite a bit.

I don't and I can't understand why people do, kinda ruins the education imo.

I generally don't forget, but like everyone, there are details that your mind is bound to forget. I try to review material even after I've tested on it so that I can thoroughly understand it. What I learned in class now will be used in the future so it's not in my best interest to forget about it once I'm done with the class.

Depends on the class. For subjects relating to my major, well I actually care about them so I learn them rather than just memorize. But for subjects like the humanities general requirement i'm taking - no way i'll remember the precise dates of 16th century renaissance masterpieces in a month from now :)

It's simple: people tend to forget things that are not reviewed or put into action.

Coming back to material after a hiatus will show how rusty you are, but it is not difficult to gain everything back. It's not like learning all over again. So, if you forget things after a year, just look over notes and you will probably see that you didn't really forget it after all.

This happened to me. A friend needed help with managerial accounting, but I had not been exposed to it for more than a year. I thought it would be difficult, but after 15-20 minutes, things started to come back to me. However, this was only possible with things I had actually learned and understood in the first place.

In short, just go back to your notes/papers/books from your past classes, if available, every now and then, and you should be fine. It's actually quick and easy since it's just review, not learning. It'll be very quick the 20+ time around.

...what last year course?

Always! I could never get myself to review.

I actually remember my stuff... I chose interesting classes I guess and use it in everyday situations.

Like with my Weather and Climate class, I spit that info like Ima amateur weather man

I review 6 months after taking a course. Just one day per class is enough. It's scary how easy it seems the second time around and how much of those confusing things make sense now.
