Anyone else from cali going here?

I'm from so cal and just wondering who else from cali will be joining me at washington.

Very good chance that I may. However, I still have two other schools that are near the top of my list assuming I don’t get into UC Berkeley. SoCal here too.

i might, agentzero, what major are you?

I’m from California! UW is one of my top choices right now, but I’ll decide when I go visit. What part of Cali are you from?

I’m from riverside and my major environmental resource and management.

I might, if I get Direct Freshman Admission … from nor cali

im from bay area…really hoping i get direct admit for CS …

oh cool, i’m from the bay area too. trying to get direct admission for CE

xainar, would you still go to UW if you didn’t get direct admit? and just went in as pre science?

None of you are from California, otherwise you wouldn’t call it Cali. (semi-kidding)

Also, to help you out on campus, the “Throw your W’s up!!” for UW is the L from the left hand but with both the index and middle fingers extended and a mirror with the same right hand. It is not the twisted middle and ring fingers like “Westside” from Westside Connection.

Don’t be the guy that throws up the Westside “W”

@qq1994 I’ve been thinking about that actually. I’m about 80% sure I’m attending UW even if I don’t get direct admit to CSE… just gotta study hard freshman year.

Waiting to hear about direct admit into biomed.

Possibly! From the Bay Area as well

Is it true UW will only direct admit only about 30 CSE?

Good luck everyone…

Anyone know when the welcome packets come?

Yeah, CSE is about 35. I spoke to someone and they told me 150 are considered, about 75 are accepted, and about 35 enroll or something like that. Take this with a grain of salt though because the numbers could be different.

I’m really hoping I get direct admit because I’m really liking what I see about UW right now. Heck, I’ve been looking at some schools back East because they have a co-op program and I learned that UW has a similar program in CSE.

Unfortunately, I’ve heard some bad stories about people who jumped in undeclared and couldn’t get into CSE afterwards, so they had to transfer.

apply4college: i thought it’s around 180

It’s around 30. There are 180 spots per graduating class total.

@speedsolver: is it true that that would significantly change if they instituted differential tuition? The argument is that they would be able to expand the program without diminishing the quality of instruction.

Xavi: I can’t say that I’m very familiar with the effects of instituted differential tuition on the department. I understand an overview of the proposition, but I can’t give you an answer on that without make up stuff :P
