Anyone else - *gasp* - rejected?

just found out today… sigh. I don’t know what happened.

Stats:
GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2080
Major: Psych
In-state resident.

Maybe it was because it was under Psych? I think it’s one of the most competitive majors.

At least I got accepted at a couple of UCs today. Still, I’m just really bummed out.

Anyone else? Let’s be miserable together :(

i got rejected too. i wasnt really planning on going there even if i got in, but it makes me nervous for the schools im still waiting for...particularly nyu.

wow, lovebluth I'm having a hard time understanding why you got rejected...those numbers look pretty good to me, this whole admissions process seems so arbitrary

Oh wow... You got rejected? Then there's absolutely no hope for m. =T I applied under Psych too.

But at least you have the UCs to go to. I just got rejected from three of the five I applied to, including my top choice (UCSC).

Rejected
3.99 uw gpa
sat 1980
act 30

But in at UCD & UCSC
looks like I'm in good company.

oops meant UCSB not UCSC

Wow - Today must be the day they rejected the psych apps. I was rejected too. :-( At least I know I am not alone. In fact, judging by your stats I was in very good company.
3.22 GPA
1990 SAT

i was rejected for econ

3.6 gpa
33 act

No, better yet, my friend got rejected from Cal Poly with these stats

GPA 4.35
SAT1: 2040
SAT2: Math2c-750, Biology-700
Rank: 3/91

applied for chemistry major

He just laughed when he saw it, cuz he wants to go to berkeley anyways, and i bet he'll get in...

"GPA: 4.0
SAT: 2080
Major: Psych

Maybe it was because it was under Psych? I think it's one of the most competitive majors."

Yeah, psych is VERY competitive at poly. Nice stats though, I would have thought you would have been in. I think CR_book's friend takes the cake, though.

yeah, i got rejected (for business major), too :( i was so shocked.
i got into ucd + ucsc, too... i wonder what went wrong? maybe i made a mistake and accidentally said that i was a convicted murderer or something...

Cal Poly SLO is just unusually selective for a CSU. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

hmmm thats interesting. i guess a lot of people applied from 07 who are really competitive.. it was that way with UCLA and UCB last year.

good luck on your remaining admissions!

im curious about poly being known for psychology.. where'd you guys hear this?

It's a good department, to be sure. As for Poly being "known" for it, I wouldn't go that far. Poly is more "known" for its science and engineering majors. It's VERY popular, however, and very difficult to get into. One of my psych prof's was telling me that a mom was making angry phone calls becuase her daughter got rejected ED for Psych with a 4.3 and a 1400 (old).

SLO isn't "known" in the national ranking sense for many of its programs, although in the industry, people tend to know it for engineering and such. That looks really odd, and it seems to be that this year is super competitive. I guess the admissions are trying to make the school more selective to at least attract some attention to this top CSU.

I'm officially a cal poly reject.

I have a 4.27.
1890 sat.

I applied under the architecture program so that probably explains it... This could be the beginning of a long stream of rejections...

A good friend of mine got rejected today. He applied as an ecomonics major like I did. The weird part is his stats are significantly better than mine.

I had a 3.75 GPA and an 1800 on the SAT. He had a 4.1 GPA and an 1890 on the SAT, but didn't get in. We both got rejected from UCD and UCSB as well.

Weird......

At my Ds school very competitive, Cal Poly rejected most....unusual for this school

I got in under Computer Science, maybe my major's not impacted?

GPA: 3.7 Weighted
Math: 710
Reading: 500
Writing: 500 (LOL)
Math2: 610
Tennis 4 years, Interact Club 4 years (2 years being an Officer)

You're way more qualify than me... must be because of Psych
