Anyone else - *gasp* - rejected?

mysticoron.. Computer Science is a lot more known that psychology. i really dont know where people are getting the whole "slo is known for psych" thing from. slo is known to be good in architecture, engineering/comp sci and ag.

that being said, i must say that i find the rejections this year to be quite unusual due to their high qualifications (claimed)

I got rejected for architecture. :[

gpa-3.68
sat-1920 (math 720, reading 610, writing 590)

I sorta thought i had a chance despite my low gpa. O'well... I just found out I got admitted to Cal Poly Pomona's architecture program... not sure if I'd really want to go there though...

I applied for Cal Poly's summer thing under a computer science major.

Did anyone else apply for the summer?

Im not really sure on how it works if i were to get admitted. I just remember an admissions guy telling us to apply for it if we thought we might not get in for fall...

I got rejected for Art and Design. :(

3.5 UC gpa and a 1790 SAT I, 800/600 SAT IIs.

....blah, whatever. :(

My D- rejected

3.7 gpa
2140 SAT

what can you say

man these rejections are random! anybody get rejected from orfalea?

I just got in today! (3/21) for either business administration or business agri.

3.59, 1250/1600 SAT

Cal Poly SLO, you are a fickle beast. Why.

Yea, I got rejected, though I’m not too upset about it since Cal Poly was my 4th choice. I actually knew I’d be rejected when I applied.

3.0 from another Cal State (transfer student) – Business Administration
Lots of work experience and EC’s (since they actually look at this)

I was a lot more shocked about being rejected from San Diego State than from Cal Poly.

san diego state is getting pretty competitive nowadays, especially in business (You need atleast a 3.0 to even apply for their business from transferring (so your gpa was at the bottom of the business applicants. SLO is turning down people who get accepted to UCSD and ****. SLO is being very picky now. Cali schools are hardcore now.

SLO doesn't seem like a big school, and as much as it's engineering program is stellar and might be able to competitively compete on the undergraduate level with UCI's or potentially even UCLA's, it cannot compete with UCSD's. The reason so many people are being rejected is because the school is becoming more well known, yet the program isn't expanding to meet the demand.

SDSU has, interestingly enough, according to collegeboard, a 41% acceptance rate, which is lower than UCSD's. The business program at SDSU is pretty good, and among California public universities (UC+CSU), SDSU would easily outrank the 3rd tier UCs.

The funny thing is that I was accepted into San Diego State as freshman, but not as a transfer student.

i got into cal poly for business admin.
gpa- 3.7
ACT- 25
SAT (NEVER SUBMITTED) 1580

was i lucky to get in?

Cal Poly isn't known for business so the competition for that major probably wasn't too intense. Sorry to burst your bubble. Nice SAT though, too bad they didn't see it.

is business admin a hard major then?? i actually submitted a 24 ACT score and 23 ACT score...they took the best scores from each catagory and helped me out

I heard it was pretty hard but not well known. As you might know, CP SLO is a 'hands on' university in that their philosophy encourages going out there and doing stuff. I'm sure they could hook you up with some turgid business co-ops for you cut your teeth on.

Business is pretty hard to get into. The selected students last year averaged a 1260 SAT (old) if I remember correctly.

where did this whole psych reputation come from... I go to poly for EE and I don't know of one person with that major. poly excels in engineering, arch, and ag... those are the only that are impacted

Mathfreak: Every major at cal poly is impacted.

ok I'll level with you...they might all be impacted but the ones I listed are by far the hardest to get accepted to

well according to this
http://www.ess.calpoly.edu/_admiss/Pdf/Profile06.pdf
arch & business are probably the harder majors to get in to
