Anyone else gearing up to apply for 2020-21?

@dkmm1973 Thanks! So far her portals don’t say anything other than they have received all her information.

@gmfalv good question

@mom2020dance yeah i haven’t heard of anyone getting a date yet-- i was told either end of this week or next week they will be sent out.

@gmfalv that’s actually good to know…

@mom2020dance

I’m trying to remember when/how she heard from NYU and it was well in to the spring. Her friend heard about her acceptance early but she was ED.

Invite to Fordham was about the first week of December.

Last year we heard from NYU on March 23rd. It was posted on the portal, along with scholarship/financial info.

Phew, that is a long wait! But I guess if you’re NYU, you can keep to whatever schedule you want!

@Undercovermom1 & @threegirlpileup So my issue is, found out that my daughter can’t do ED on her schools because she skipped her Junior year and it looks like she only had 2 years of high school. So we are forced to wait as she completes her Senior year at leas the first semester to see that she is indeed on track to graduate early : (

SO NOW WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT uggggggggggggggh

It is a long wait. NYU was the very last one to announce and then their admitted student events were just a couple weeks later. It was a scramble to fit in a visit, but we did it (we went on official campus tour, Tisch dance tour and saw a senior dance performance) and it really helped ds decide.

Just got our audition date for Ailey for December 11! Anyone else?

@gmfalv we received a date of Dec 12, but can’t attend that date. Now we need to try and request a different date. My D has a mandatory performance at her school for a grade as a part of the dance company at her high school.

@mom2020dance im sure if you call they’ll be able to change that for you!

Anyone waiting to hear about an audition after the prescreen at IU or Cincinnati? I think we should hear early next week at the latest but wondering if there are others waiting…

@NavigatingMom My Dd auditioned @IU last month. We got a really good feel of the school & faculty. Good luck to you

@“Ksmama**” Perhaps your Dd auditioned for the contemporary program at IU? If so, I am interested to hear about it! My competitive dancer did not audition there last year because of timing issues really but I am wondering what genres they do there? Do they do all - jazz, tap, hip hop, in addition to ballet and modern/contemporary? We haven’t been to the campus yet - how was it?

My ballerina has academic acceptance already but not sure if she will get an audition. I am pretty sure the Jacobs school (ballet only as my second dancer is a ballerina) at Bloomington requires a pre-screen, notifications haven’t started going out yet I don’t think as the date just closed 12/1, and the 3 audition dates are Jan/FebMar.

Keep us posted!

D was told that decisions for Dominican LINES program will be coming out in the next couple of weeks, if anyone else has auditioned there.

@NavigatingMom we were at the November audition. If I remember correctly IU did require a prescreen. The audition consisted of modern, ballet, and then 1 minute solo. There was a student panel that my DD found to be very helpful as well as a Q&A with faculty. The campus is beautiful. All of the students describe it as a big school in a small town. Here are my notes. Hope this helps and good luck to your daughter!!

@“Ksmama**” thanks! It definitely sounds like that was for the contemporary program. When will you hear results?

We are waiting on pre-screen results and possible audition invite from ballet at Jacobs school. They only take 10-12 so it is pretty crazy competitive for ballet. We still have 2 prescreen we are waiting to hear from - IU Bloomington (Jacobs School) and U of Cincinnati (CCM). Hoping to hear this week!

D just got acceptance into Michigan! D is happy and likes the program a lot - especially with Judy Rice as the Ballet teacher.

Anyone have any experience with IU Dance Minor?
