Anyone else get a handwritten note?

I just received a note from Lucy Orazem Pelham, an assistant director of admissions at Wellesley who commented on my "impressive" academic record and said that she was "moved by [my] essay about the importance of helping others." It seemed to be a congratulatory note on my positive early evaluation. I was just wondering if this was normal or if they are specifically targeting me. I'm so excited!

I think all of the people who received a likely also got a handwritten note. Although I don’t think Lucy Orazem Pelham actually wrote them all… LOL

I haven’t! But I’ve heard everyone who gets a likely does, I’m waiting anxiously! :)

I got a note today! It talked about how she especially liked my “Why Wellesley” essay and it invited me to accepted students weekend.

Everyone who was evaluated as “likely” will get a note at some point, either from an admissions officer or a current Wellesley student. And if you put English and History down as your anticipated majors on the Common App., I’m probably the one who was given your name as one of my letter recipients. :)

I’m a “likely” but haven’t received any hand-written note from Wellesley. Is it sent through the mail?

It is. You probably won’t get it for a couple more weeks. The admissions office sends dorm coordinators (I’m one of them) lists of “likely” candidates sorted by academic interest, and then we divvy up the lists and pass them on to people in our residence halls who want to write to prospective students. The letters are supposed to go out around March 10th, so you should get yours soon after that. The student who’s writing to you will include her contact information, so if you want to ask her questions about your prospective major(s) or just get to know someone at Wellesley, you should definitely write her back. :)

If I already got a note from admissions, can I look forward to a note from a current student too?

pinklemonade222, I think you’ll also get a note from a current student. However, I’m not coordinating the letter-writing for the entire school, so I’m not 100% sure. It seems likely, though, as one of the goals of having Wellesley students send letters is to connect prospies with someone who’s already at the school and can answer their questions, get to know them better, etc.

Just wondering, did you email admissions? Did you reply? I don’t know what to do with this wonderful note of mine…

Finally got my note… but they spelt my name wrong… story of my life hahah

Will international students get the note too? and how long does it probably take?

^I’m an international student evaluated as likely too, and I haven’t gotten the note either. Guess they use the snail mail?

I got both an admissions person note and a current student note. Between Wellesley and Smith (and my safety, a lower-tier women’s college), it’s like my mailbox is the site of an epic Battle of the Women’s Colleges!

I clicked this thread because Smith sent out early acceptances to a select group of RD applicants with a handwritten note from the dean of admissions.

Congrats everyone!

Ohreally, whats your safety?

Simmons College, in Boston. They offered me a full ride today; sad to say I’m gonna turn it down!

I got a handwritten note but no likely letter.
