Anyone else get a scarf?

Today, I got a package which I originally thought would be a shirt, but which turned out to be a red UChicago scarf!

I live about an hour away, so I was probably one of the first to get one!

I have to say, this is helping my decision, though that $55,000 a year still kinda hurts me.

People have been getting them for about 2 weeks now.

I haven’t gotten one yet. :frowning: Do RD admittants get one too?

Yes, I got mine today.

Yeah! I was gonna celebrate this springtime weather but… whatever. I love this scarf too much to not wear it.

i got one, and i’m an RD admit.
i feel like they sent us scarves because they had extras left over from EA…

They didn’t come in the acceptance package, right? I hope I get one, although it’ll take ages for it to reach me even if they do send it. Lol

Mine came today too! I’m so happy  especially after I was sad hearing all the EA admits got one back in December or whenever and regretting not applying EA haha. Maybe they saw us complaining on this board.

@bilguun yeah it came separately, you’ll get one soon I’m sure!

Based on season, the scarf was a more immediately fitting gesture for many of the EA admits. (I received one during winter.)

I got the maroon book and the card/letter, still no scarf… does that mean I won’t get one then? Or is the scarf sent separately from everything else.

@mifune, it might have also had some immediate use for EAers, but I will for sure be sporting the scarf this winter in Chicago.

A scarf would be useful here for quite a time. It’s still freezing cold in my country.

Bilguun, that scarf won’t be sufficient to keep you warm over there. It is more of a decorating item :)

do international admits get scarves?

@mifune, it might have also had some immediate use for EAers, but I will for sure be sporting the scarf this winter in Chicago.”

Oh, if you were accepted to Chicago - or will be attending college in the immediate area - then congratulations!

Yeah everyone gets one.

yes. yes i did. yesterday.

A scarf will keep your neck nice and cozy after having your electric/natural gas shut off after incurring debt at a $55k (2010), $XXk? (2011+) school. Don’t know how much of this debt you would incur on your own, but if a significant portion, better make sure it is worth it, and that you can afford grad school if it is in your plans. Otherwise the 4 years you spend happy with the prestige of U of C will sadly pale to the several years of debt in adulthood.
