I live all the way on the East coast, and I've gotten the most mail from Caltech out of any college. Does this mean they want me? Anybody else experience getting a ton of Caltech mail? It must of cost at least 20 dollars for them to mail me all these postcards, letters, and posters.

No, it doesn’t mean they want you. The advertisements has nothing to do with admission office. They are just trying to get more applications to apply.

*This is what I had posted in reply to another thread

Yes, like other colleges CalTech buys names from College Board and other organizations and they do not have much information other than possibly the PSAT scores. CalTech also targets women and URM’s (under represented minorities) in their outreach. CalTech unlike other top schools clearly states that they do not practice Affirmative Action (AA).

Instead their stated objective is to reach out to as many women and URM’s that they can, and get them to apply so that they find the applicants with the qualifications they are looking for. In other words they are trying to increase the pool applicants from those categories and if you belong to one or both of those categories, and your PSAT scores are good, you are a likely candidate. *

all that aside, the periodic table was nice ;)

I wish it meant they want me.

Ya periodic table is very nice.

It is hanging above my bed. XD

^ ya it certainly seems like they want you. I avoid showing too much intimacy to a college (like hanging the table on the wall) before getting in. There’s always a chance of rejection :|
