Anyone else get a UCSB e-mail?

I only got the email about them posting decisions on the 19th… I guess all we can do is wait

Imagine how sad all the people that got the initial email will be if they don’t get accepted on Tuesday, lol. I know I would be…

Haha, I know! I’m sure that initial e-mail doesn’t mean anything though. I TAG’ed and completed all my pre-reqs for my major by the end of the Fall semester, so I fully expect to be admitted, but even then, you hear horror stories of applicants who TAG and STILL don’t get in. :(

I remember last year there was a girl who TAG’ed and had everything in order and she was still denied. People speculated it was because she had like 20-somethin’ units in progress for Spring.

OMG now you’re scaring me!!! :scream: I have EVERYTHING on the IGETC, major prep, AND I tagged, and it’s my dreamschool!! I really do hope that doesn’t happen…

She didn’t have enough units in spring?

Haha, relax! It’ll be okay. As long as you have a 3.2+ and your pre-reqs with TAG you’ll be fine! Pre-reqs are important to UCSB along with having english and math done by the end of Fall.

You can look up last year’s transfer thread. Since she had so many units in progress for spring, it probably appeared to UCSB that she was rushing to get out of community college. Either that or there was something else wrong with her application that she did not disclose to the forum.

I just found this e-mail in my spam folder. It’s not from the usual UCSB e-mail address (it says it’s from Elroy Pink?), so I think it probably went into most people’s spam folder.

Yeah, that’s what I’m guessing. Elroy Pinks is one of their veteran admission counselors. He’s a cool guy. I met him when he came to transfer day over at my community college. He shook my hand and said, “You’re in!” Haha.

larinaga you’re saying I need to complete major prereqs by fall??? I thought we can comeplete it by spring?

^No, you’re fine if you complete them in the Spring. I personally feel that an applicant who has completed all their pre-reqs by the end of the Fall would have a better chance of being admitted vs. one who has a couple planned for Spring. That’s just an opinion though, and not fact. They can admit you with IP pre-reqs, but if you don’t finish them, they can rescind you.

Judging from last year’s thread, many applicants who didn’t have the two english courses and at least one math course finished by the end of fall were denied admission.

Oo thanks for replying so fast, I was scared for 7minutes.

Haha! You’re very welcome! :)

Haha I know what thread you are talking about now. She had too many units. I have a 4.0 sociology major and finished all major prep, English and math classes, and will be IGETC certified (taking my last class for one of the areas this semester).

I actually talked to a UCSB rep about that… Laringa is right, they do prefer that you take the English and math courses in the fall. If not, and you’re taking it this spring it only makes you less competitive than other applicants. But, UCSB seems really chill about things is what I like about them.
