Anyone else get an e-mail from Penn State admissions today?

Just wondering...S got an e-mail telling him he was "in the first group to be evaluated" because he applied before November 30th. (Clearly he is not, since many have gotten acceptance letters already!) It also invited him to check his status when the university reopens after vacation.

Just wondering if anyone else received this e-mail? It's almost like this is the e-mail you get when they are finally going to review your application....

Everyone who applied before Nov. 30th that hasn’t been accepted yet received that email.

I got it too.

I applied Oct 24th and I didn’t get this email…

i got the email today. i applied october 7th. this is ridiculous!

The email is an insult.

It is a “suck you along email”

Basically we have accepted a lot of people in front of you that applied after you did. You are still being considered so hang in there while we go on vacation. We still may reject you!

The email is just a carrot on a stick to get you not to commit to another school. I agree with other posts that I have read that the rolling admissions is a bunch of bull!

Why would they operate like this, because they can! It is an extremely popular school right now and they can pretty much do whatever they want!

For all of those waiting have a Happy Holiday season. If you don’t get into PSU UP it is not the end of the world. There are plenty of good colleges and universities. And they have the decency to provide you a decision in a timely manner!

I applied before Nov. 30th and I didn’t get this email…

I have a few friends who received this email. It is difficult to understand why they take so long to review some applications, especially since a friend and I both received acceptance letters within a week of applying online.

I got it. I applied Sept. 1.

I got it & applied Sept 1. I have already committed to another school that I’m crazy about (Indiana University) but still, I’m annoyed with how this isn’t truly “rolling admissions” because, in fact, applications are NOT being evaluated in the order they are received. Ugh, I am starting to really dislike PSU’s app process and feel bad for people who have been waiting. :(

Does anything think that it is bad that I didn’t get one? (I applied October 24th)

It probably doesn’t mean anything.

I have also received that email, and I applied Sept. 1st. I most likely will not get into Fall but I would at least like to know if I got summer or a branch.
