anyone else get EA decisions today?

we're thrilled- d got in EA today with a nice scholarship! we weren't expecting to hear anything for another month, so when I saw the thick envelope in the mail, I didn't dare hope it was a decision, but it was!
sh/we is/are going to have some tough decisions in next few months..
she was also invited to apply for the honors program...just when she thought she was done with applications!

any other news out there?

Congrats! Good luck with the decision!

Wecandothis - congrats! My son got accepted EA last month (right before Christmas...it was the best present!), also with a nice scholarship. Very surprised when the big package came. That same day he heard from one of the CSU's (acceptance, but no $). Still waiting to hear from two more colleges. This was his first choice, and the one he will attend. We are all thrilled!

Good luck with the big decision!

thanks for the good wishes westcoast and little...we are so excited about this! It was so strange how she got 2 acceptances/scholarships on the same day, both way sooner than we'd expected.
I've always had a good feeling about USD; living in the area since 92 I have visited quite a few times and every time have had a good impression. D really loves it too....but she does wonder if there are a lot of super preppy types though. Her small public hs is a little on the surfer/artsy side, yet with great academics, and she likes that ambiance..enjoys diversity too, meaning a mix of people from different cultures and perspectives...so we will see where this all ends up!
still waiting on a number of other schools, but USD has put a great offer on the table we will be looking very seriously at.
Don't the CSU dollars come later in the process?

My D recieved an acceptance with some nice $ last week as well. At this point she is thinking she wants to go to a larger school, but the $ and honors invitation sure feel good - we will have to wait and see what else comes in the mail between now and May 1.

congrats to your d OC Mom- it is too early to make a final decision, but I personally feel very good about USD. It was such a nice offer...
where else did you d apply?

I was admitted in early Jan and was wondering do any of your daughters know where they are interested in rooming, I heard that Maher was the way to go. And also I was given $10,000 and not the honors college, what kind of stats did they have to get into the honors college.

wedandothis - my D has applied at a bunch of other colleges in CA as well as out of state. One is USC and I saw your post about Town & Gown on that thread. Congrats on your D getting an interview. My D did not apply for that one though she did for some of the other USC scholarships. By the time she got to scholarship apps she was a bit burned out and turned off by the amount of work needed for the Town & Gown. We may sorry for that decision. My guess is that if your D is interviewing she will soon get her acceptance! Does she have any preferences between these two schools? Both are great, but quite different in size.

USDNROTC21 - My D is still waiting for decisions from a few other colleges before she gets specific about housing with any one. Her stats are 4.6 GPA, 2030 SAT, I can't remember her SATII's I think they were 710, & 690ish.

Historically, Maher would probably be the best freshman living choice, but USD is opening a brand new building down by Missions next fall, so that may be the best choice. I heard that the new bulding will have a cafe and a brand new workout facility.

i thought the new missions was for upperclassmen...but i personally like the missions better because it feels like you are walking "home" at night, rather than just going upstairs from your classroom or something. but after missions, i would say maher was the best.

USDNROTC-you can apply to be in the honors program after your first semester. i don't know what the stats are for incoming freshmen, but i think only those who got the 15,000 scholarship are asked to apply.

I just found this website, but I received an EA letter around January 10 with a nice scholarship in it. Still waiting to hear if i got into either USC or UCLA, however, but USD is definitely my #2 school :)
