MA state colleges have ridiculously low tuition, but incredible fees.

The fees at UMASS may be around 9K, while tuition is less than 2K.

The J/A Adams scholarship program is just a political stunt. It sounds great, but lures people into believing they are getting much more than they actually are.

why does it say in-state tuition is $9,595 then?"
kiwieux... it says tuition AND FEES....... I know, who would think that the fees would be so much more than the tuition!! I was kind of shocked the first time I heard about it too. My sister told me ( and I don't know if this is true, so please don't take it as fact ) but that the way the state system works is that the individual schools get to keep the "fees" but the tuition goes to the state for all the schools. Also they can raise the "fees" and still claim that they have not raised "tuition" rates.

Ok...I found out i got in on saturday by checking online but I still haven't received an acceptance packet. I'm instate and supposedly they are sending results alphabetically because the Hs and Js at my school have already received them. I'm a K and I'm starting to get nervous.

zucky,
I got the e-mail, but it wasn't blank.
Does your e-mail provider block images? If it does, try unblocking it, because I think the entire message was an embedded image with text on it.

really? im an "L" and i havent received anything yet. ah.

no I don't think that's true, because I'm an A and although I've been accepted, I still haven't gotten my acceptance packet. I was one of the last people to find out about my acceptance at my school.

I'm an out of state student, and I haven't been accepted yet. I'm just about in the top 25% of my class, my SATs were not very good (like a 1050..), but my overall GPA is around a 93. Would anyone like to give me any feedback on if they were accepted and what their SAT scores were along with their GPA? I'm getting very nervous..and I want to go to Umass, A LOT. So if you guys can all just let me know, that'd be great.

1850/2400 SAT
3.5 GPA
College prep school with no honors or APs.

I was accepted a few days ago. UMass gets a lot of apps, so it takes some time to update everyone's acceptances. Look at the start of this thread, someone was accepted on March 3 or 4 (can't remember) and I just got accepted a few days ago. So it is just taking some time. Meanwhile...it says your location is Connecticut. Why not apply to UConn, it ranks above UMass.

I'm still waiting, I think I should get in no problem, but I just hate waiting. Feels nice to get an acceptance :) or at least some confirmation lol
