Basically they cut $700 from my UCSD grant ($8600 to $7900) :(. Did this happen to everyone?

No .

Yeah, I got mine cut too.

Mine got cut too, but I don't remember the amount of the grant I got before so I don't know how much money they took out... :(

I think if you go to your original application you can compare your preliminary award notice

they cut about $300 from my ucsd grant.

do they tell you through email or on the site?

they notify on your UCSD email, and tell you go to tritonlink financial aid tool to see it. so now i have until August 24th to accept the new rewards.

they cut $100.

sigh

that's not too bad. i thought that i won't have too much luck (well, i did got a late registration time) and will get a lot of money cut. but that's not too bad.

"Administrative revision due to funding limitation." i think next year will be worse

ucsd is either poor or they are admitting too many students...They need to accept fewer applicants next year or someone is gonna have to donate a lot of money....because it's obvious they are spending a lot of money on research..

my UCSD grant got cut $300 and they added that to my loans. they should just stop accepting so many students. overcrowding in classes and dorms and less financial aid really isn't the solution.

ihavenolife, research actually brings in money. It's one of the university's three major sources of funding.

then what are they spending money on that causes them to limit their funding for financial aid? because i need all the aid i can get....so i really needed that 300 bucks...

it is most likely that UCSD is accepting more students than its budget can handle or that way more students matriculated this year than predicted. as the college grows, the budget isn't increasing fast enough to handle the growth so the school has to make concessions.

yeah i got 300 off of my ucsd grant and got 300 dollars increased onto my loan.

I got 300 taken from a grant too...

But anyway, research is mostly paid for by grants from outside agencies, not the school itself... And UCSD admitted fewer students this year than last year, like 10% less, so it might be that more students matriculated than usual... Whatever the case, I am very unhappy that Financial Aid didn't provide a real reason for the change.

i haven't even got my financial aid stuff yet

all of us should sign a petition and organize an internet protest!! muhahahahah

@ iamcrazy, I still didn't get mine either :</p>

Something tells me that a protest will not magically procure funds for financial aid...
