@CyclonesGrad We are also from Illinois. My son wants to major in Civil Engineering which is super strong at UIUC so even without scholarships we would be happy to pay for him to get his degree from there. Plus getting back and forth to school would be cheap and easy. Of course he is not in yet! One way to save money at UIUC is to major in General Studies for the first year and then transfer in to Engineering (per our school’s college counselor). He did get a nice scholarship from UIowa and would no doubt get more from the Engineering school (per data from a kid we know there). He doesn’t like the campus at either of those schools however. WI and MN are neck and neck! Iowa State is a great bargain for OOS but too far/hard to get to for my taste. VTech would be a supreme hassle! He is very chill now that he has some acceptances. Might not even get those other apps in!
@msd228 I didn’t mean to be so self-absorbed here…congrats on the acceptance!!! :">
Can someone chance me for cse? I have a 4.25 weighted GPA. I have a 27 on my act. I come from a really competitive OOS highschool. My extra curricular a are really strong. I have a lot of leadership roles as well. The school counselor said that I shouldn’t worry. Students at our school going into CSE have little issues.
@meepberd what are your subscores?
@Mamelot I have a 28 english 29 math 25 science 24 reading with a 9 for writing. But I have take the most advanced math and science courses throughout all of high school, and I have done well in all of them
@meepberd, given your ACT results CSE is probably a reach, unless your counselor is factoring in something unique about your application (and he/she would know best on this). You might consider applying to CLA as a backup if you are set on going to UMN. Several majors are offered in both colleges and it might be possible to transfer once you get there.
Has anyone heard from Purdue?
Purdue starts on 10/23, and releases daily after that (according to their email). I actually tweeted their admissions to ask if it would be all colleges or just some and they have not responded.
