Anyone else going crazy? A countdown to decision time.

So, I just called my school-of-choice to ask when decision letters will be mailed. The woman I spoke with told me all decisions have been made and the letters will be going out THIS WEEK . She told me that the assistant director of admissions is in a meeting until around 11 or 12 (Eastern Time), and if I call back after that I could receive “more information” regarding decisions. As most of you can imagine, I’m chewing all of my finger nails off in nervous anticipation. I plan to call back around noon.

I figured that we could all use a thread to blow off some steam, lament, and complain.

Well, my number 1 school is The College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. I think I’m a good fit (1330 SAT, 3.8 GPA, top 10%, strong ECs). I mean I hope I am.

Man, I’m so nervous . . .

So, who else is waiting for the news.

Good luck everyone.

I’ll update everyone regarding the COA situation as soon as know!

-Amy

So . . . I still haven't called back. I'm just too nervous! If I do get in, great! But, what if I don't?! I'm such a basket case.

Insted of calling, I'm taking stupid online quizzes and watching reruns of Premiership Soccer. Chelsea and Norwich are scoreless in the 19th minute . . . Druai just got yellow carded for Norwich.

Maybe I'll call now . . . ?

-Amy

Joe Cole scores for Chelsea in the 22nd minute. Nice lefty strike by Cole.

Ok. I'm going to call now.

Seriously.

-Amy

So, I called. Associate Director of Admissions told me decisions will be mailed this week (all of them by Thursday), and I should hear soon. Nothing I wasn't told before.

That was anticlimactic.

She was very nice though.

So . . . How long will it take a letter to get from Maine to Pennsylvania?

Counting the days,
Amy

I live 10 minutes from COA- Absolutely beautiful spot, winter and summer. Good luck. If mailed on Wed- maybe Saturday. If thursday- you have a long weekend of nailbiting.

Alison- Thanks for the encouragement! I haven't visited yet, I'm waiting until I find out about COA to do my Maine college visits. All the pictures of the Bar Harbor area (and of Maine in general) are gorgeous!

If I don't get into COA I'll probably go to UMaine (Honors College).

Winter is my favorite season, but I've been told that one winter in Maine will cure me of that.

Thanks,
Amy

Winter at acadia is quite spectacular. Cross country skiing is big and the carriage roads are groomed after every snow and on a regular basis. Bar Harbor is hopping in the summer and september but is quite lovely in Spring and fall. COA in in Bar Harbor (5 -10 min walk). Two movie theatres, lots of restaurants (a lot close in winter), YMCA, and more. COA is on the water and the town pier is fairly close. Any questions? I'd be glad to answer.

Good luck Amy. I've heard great things about COA.

Btw, I assume Chelsea won that game, they win just about everything this year. I'm a big Chelsea fan.

Bar Harbor is a GREAT town for college kids, and Acadia is absolutely breaktaking in any season. Good luck. You should have no trouble with those stats.

MANY Thanks to everyone for the input and encouragement! I'll post the news as soon as I get it. Until then I'll be keeping myself busy with work, and "spring" cleaning.

Alison- I have a pair of snowshoes that I haven't used much. Sounds like I'll get a chance to break them in! I've never tried cross country skiing, but I would really like to. I don't have any questions now (unless you can tell me my admission status hehehe), but I'm sure I'll have some as I plan my visits.

Dima- Yes, Chelsea won (3-1). Norwich is currently at the bottom of the table with only 3 wins. Looks like they're on their way back to the first division.

Later,
Amy

Double post. Sorry.

Countdown to UCI acceptance... oh wait, they've been doing rolling admissions since March 1 and I'm still waiting!!!!
