Don’t they just automatically select people with 4.0’s to be invited?

Usually you’d be rejected if you apply to an impacted major and don’t have all the prereqs done. Though I do remember reading someone with all prereqs done, 4.0, good ECs, and a regents scholar invite. I guess nothing is certain until you get the official letter of acceptance.

I have all the prereqs but I am a civil engineering major.

well yes the letter starts with “because of your oustanding academic record” so naturally it would be based on your GPA.

I’m pretty sure Cal only gives it to CC only students? I am half CC half UC, and UCLA treats them the same admission wise. I was just surprised to be invited because I have 4 year college credit…

@rpiction: i applied as communications major and i did not finish all the prereqs and i still got the letter for ucla. 4.0 GPA btw. and just bc we got this letter doesn’t mean we’re accepted. alot of people from last yr were invited to apply for regents but got rejected…

for the berkeley regents, did u guys get an actual letter from the mail or just an email?

I wonder if only CC transfers are eligible. It used to say that on the UCLA website but I don’t see that anymore. Hmmm.

Edit: found it. Only CC transfers are eligible. " • Transfer Applicants: Requires a GPA of 4.0 in all coursework. Must enter UCLA as a junior transfer from a California community college." Dumb if ya ask me.

Not to be a bearer of bad news, but this invite (I’m pretty sure) is based purely on GPA. If you have a 4.0, you had a good chance at getting into Cal/UCLA anyways. It is not like the admissions board reviews your application and thought you stood out. You just have a high GPA, which is basically what admissions is based on anyways. Unfortunately, thanks to the holistic review process at UCLA/CAL, just because you have a 4.0 does not mean you will be admitted.

Holy crap I got the invite! And I thought they only gave it to community college transfers…they must have just changed that policy! Super excited!

Those of you who were already invited to the Cal regent’s scholarship: did your myBerkeleyApp page change before you applied to the scholarship? Did it change after you applied to the scholarship?
