Because it doesn't sound like it. Mine's been amazing. Good friends, good concerts, some road trips, camping, music festivals, kagan's confirmation hearing, civil war battlefields, bonfires.

Who else did something fun?

Highlight was going to Hookaville out ine legends valley,

Meh. It could be better right about now. I left California two weeks after school was out to go back to Korea (to visit family like every summer). The music shows and concerts have been awesome, don’t get me wrong. Oh and not to mention shopping is incredible! We’ve been over to Hong Kong and Japan and I’ve been stocking up on everything I’ll ever need, lol.

But about a week and a half ago one of my family members was rushed to the hospital. Family has been taking it pretty hard. Now I’m back in California to attend Orientation and right after I’m going back to Asia. I hope everything will be better when I get back! I know the concerts are going to be good!!!

My summer was amazing. I’m gonna try and run a half marathon sometime this year so I’ve been running a lot. I took a few summer classes and really enjoyed all of them (plus got A’s in all of them, more A’s that I got this past year). I played tons of frisbee, spent a lot of time in Boston and volunteered at my church helping redesign their web site.

It may sound boring but getting to spend time with my parents, brother, and friends after not seeing them for a long time was tons of fun for me.

Not to mention that before college starts, I’m going to Washington DC and Orlando!

Nope. I work 60 hours a week to pay for school next year. I haven’t loved summer since I started working full-time (and then some) at 17. So that’s 5 years now. I’ve had some great times on the weekend, but it just doesn’t make up for the five other days.

Not sure what you mean by DC having a bit too much crime, but seeing as I live and work here, I probably see it differently.

Been working 60-80 hours a week, but it’s been AMAZING. Doing some awesome research and attending lots of conferences and workshops. Maybe not everyone’s idea of fun, but I love it.

just stay north of the Anacostia and you’re good ;)

@pierre sweet!

Summer’s been fine so far. It could be better (e.g. I wish I could find a girlfriend or something) but it’s been fine otherwise. Been hanging out with my friends a lot and making money.

Mine used to be good but then I got an “internship” where I’m more or less the office lackey for 10 hours a day, 5 days a week… and I don’t even get to touch that money really. I have to help my parents pay for my tuition since our grant money went down, so my internship money is going towards that. So I’m still working at my restaurant job on the weekends for spending money, although I’m not sure when I have time to spend it since between the two, I’ve been working 60+ hour weeks. I’m exhausted and I feel like the two weeks left between now and my last day of the internship are going to drag on.

But then my family’s going on our first vacation in like five years to Hawaii Thoroughly excited for that.

I believe there was roughly 47 homocides through june. A lot of violent crimes. A lot of rough areas. I’ve walked through neighborhoods and found drug needles.

i’ve lived here for 15 years and have never been a victim of crime, but ok

It’s a dickish thing to say but the majority (read: 99.9%) of homicides occur in the poor parts of town where a tourist is never gonna be setting foot. And the majority of those homicides are also usually between gangbanging idiots ‘having a beef.’ Your chance of being a random victim of homicide is very small. You’re more likely to get killed by a drunk driver frankly.

Heck no! 50 hours a week at my internship, “disagreements with my family”, hs friends being too busy, college friends too far away, and nothing to do by myself. On the plus side, I did see Wicked and take a weekend road trip to Houston to see some friends. Still, its been a long and tiresome summer. 3 weeks till I go back to college!

Who said that?

I’ve been robbed in DC. There are a lot of homeless people as well. And drugs are everywhere. Crime rates are higher in DC than many cities, such as PGH. Coming from a safe city, I can say parts of DC have a bad feel. I think it’s worse than cleveland. Let’s see, there were 46 reported homocides in PGH in 08. In DC: 187. DC has higher crime rates than many cities. Just because you haven’t been a victim, doesn’t mean that crime isn’t a problem. I’ve never been a victim in Cleve, but it’s not that safe of a city.
