@rachyruru I’ll see you there, hopefully. I’m wondering if the school is a fit for me too. Nervous…

rachyruru - your experience sounds a little like my daughter’s. She applied ED and then we went for another weekend visit. I will never forget the look on her face when I met up with her on Saturday morning - it said “uh oh”. She really wasn’t sure she had made the right choice. I told her she could withdraw her ED application and apply elsewhere. She decided that she didn’t really have another school in mind that she thought would be a better fit.

Fast forward to freshman year, she really loved her classes at Scripps and made a lot of friends there but she still felt that something wasn’t quite right about the fit. She’s into the arts and music like many Scrippsies but also very gregarious and athletic. I think that she felt Scripps was a little quiet for her taste and that the students were a little more reserved and studious than she is. She was very glad for the consortium as that provided more overall balance.

Now it’s sophomore year and I have seen a change occurring. She is living in a suite with six other girls and they are having a ball. They are studious, of course, but also quite social. I see her continuing to grow intellectually and really taking pride in the fact that she attends Scripps and is part of such a special place. She really admires her classmates and I see her inspired by them. She commented over Christmas break that she is glad that she is only a sophomore because she doesn’t want to think about graduating and leaving.

Looking back to her senior year in high school, I think she was right about that feeling that she didn’t quite fit at Scripps. I think that she has had to grow into the place.

I think that another visit is a great idea and hope it helps answer your concerns.
