I already submitted my down payment for American University, but I'm still waiting to hear back from Rochester. I hear the acceptance rate off the waitlist is considerably high?

Is anyone else in my situation?

Waitlisted....
No answer....
Hate it...

Actually it is extremely hard to get off the waitlist... They want to lower the amount of people in the class of 2010 and will likely not admit any off the waitlist...

Yeah, unfortunately as hopkinslax said, UR has too many people right now.

My class (2009) they were generous and admitted** a lot of people, and unfortunately for UR, a lot of people accepted** (there's a differance between admitted and accepted). Housing this year was interesting, we actually ran into situations where triples were needed.

So for 2010 they're cutting back on the number of people they accept. However, this doesn't mean they won't take people off wait list. This just means that less people were admitted**. However if those people that were admitted choose not to go and there's slightly less than the target number of people UR wants for 2010, they'll pull people off the wait list.

It's not uncommon for that to happen. UR usually has 15-20% acceptance (that is of all the people that were admitted, only 15-20% accepted the offer).

So there's still hope! I know watiting sucks, but you should hear from them soon.

Good luck!

and where did you get that info from
just wondering...

It was on the local campus newspaper and from memory of when I talked to the admissions consular here on my visit a little over a year and a half ago.

Plus my mom works for the UR and she tells stories once in awhile about other people and their experiances.

Friends too...

I guess I've gotten that info from a lot of places. haha...
