Anyone else make friends with their professor(s)?

As a take off on the scary professors thread, I'd thought I'd post this Through a long and complicated series of interactions, I somehow managed to become friends with one of my professors (both of us straight females) from first semester freshman year (I'm now a sophomore), and yes, we've actually referred to each other as such.

One one hand, it's really nice because my professor really is an completely awesome, sweet, funny person who seems to think I'm wonderful (for some reason...idk), but on the other hand, it's kind of weird that I know things like:
-where she now works (she having since gone to a different university)
-what her new house looks like
-where her husband is from
-what her recent vacation was like (complete with pictures!)
-when her anniversay is
-what her first date with her future husband was like
etc., etc.

(Of course, it goes both ways, and she knows things about my life that my other professors most cetainly don't know.)

It's odd because I've come to think of her not as a professor but as very human (albeit very nice and highly intelligent) person.

Anyone else become friends with a professor?

Yes actually. We're both guys, and we speak thru email to see how each other is doing (him with his new job, me with my transfer apps) and he also wrote an incredibly awesome rec letter.

Oh, I'm very friendly with my professors. wink wink

haha, just kidding. I'm not even in college. But those high school teachers, they're a different story.

i have been to one professor's house, met her husband, held her baby, fed her baby, she's called me on my cell, etc. in college everyone is technically an adult, so I don't see anything wrong with being friends with a professor.
