Hey everyone! its official....pomona doesn't have my school report, the school supplement, or the midyear report. I just received an email from pomona. my counselor really does suck. Anyways...just wondering if anyone else is in this situtation.

It's the same for me! =(

I think Pomona is just behind on filing the RD forms.
But it is frustrating.
My daughter is only "Missing Seventh Semester Transcript" and one of the other Claremonts got it on 2/7. They were mailed by the school the same day.

im missing the seventh semester transcript too? is this the same as the mid year report? or do i actually send an official transcript?

The school should send a transcript that includes the fall 06 semester with the mid-year report.
I'm assuming that when they say that transcript is missing they are taking about the whole package, but maybe I'm wrong.
If anyone calls let us know.

i'm missing the transcript and also the required signature page which i sent in TWO MONTHS AGO. and i tried printing a new one off of three different computers but the pdf file doesn't work.

i'm pretty much done with pomona at this point.

DON'T give up on Pomona just because you've encountered frustrations with the admissions process! aot2007 - Are you downloading the form from http://pomona.edu/adwr/admissions/Applying/Applying.shtml ? If it still doesn't work call admissions and tell them to fax a copy of the blank for to you. Almost all problems can be resolved, it's probably just that the admissions office at Pomona lacks the manpower that other schools have. I strongly encourage you to not give up - it's such an amazing school!

And to people who are wondering about the meaning of "seventh semester transcript" - it would be more efficient and productive to just call the admissions office and ask.

I suspect Pomona's having some problems right now. My daughter was recently notified by e-mail that several components of her application were missing, including school report, mid-term grades, and even her supplement! The supplemented had been submitted months ago, and as for the school/report and grades--her counselor managed to get those to every other school she applied to. Only Pomona is "missing" all these things. Hmmmmm.

hey all-- according to the missing materials info, I am missing the seventh semester transcript which they have officially explained to be the Mid-Year report, as well as my School Report supplement. In addition to the self-check e-mail service, they've sent me an e-mail, and in it, said that:

They are recieving MANY midyear reports from high schools right now and are doing their best to update daily; if you know you have/ your school has sent it, don't worry.

I'm also wondering if any one had this issue: my school report supplement was missing because my high school has their own form with all that same information, basically, so they toss most school's official report forms and send their own. I was skeptical but they said "people have gotten in from this school before, don't worry, its the same information." I later found out that, indeed, Pomona needs their exact form of the school report supplement. (My registrar counselor said the difference was probably disciplinary information)

My daughter's app finally has everything filed"
When she checked that Self Service email address, she got this message back tonight:

"All Application Documents have been Received."

I hope the rest of you get that message soon. If you haven't checked lately try it again.

Suddenly, my daughter's file has gone from several major things missing (a week ago) to only one thing missing (today). Hmmmmm.

i just checked and my stuff is still missing...hopefully it'll process this week though

Pomona asked for a non-existing form - our school doesn't write 7th semester transcripts (different system). They want my January exam results as an alternative but I'm scared because I think I screwed up on those (even though I can retake them in June).

Pomona stated my D was also missing the signature page which we sent in late December (kept a copy), as well as the school report and mid-year report. Our counselor swears she sent that in, which we tend to believe, since the seven other schools my D applied to received it.

Between their apparent lack of organization and their extreme rudeness that we encountered in the admissions office on our tour, I am not impressed with Pomona. Others have posted similar complaints about the admissions office in other threads here. They need to beef up the professionalism and courtesy there. I\We certainly don't appreciate having to chase down all these forms again.

I am equally unimpressed. I refuse to have my daughter's guidance counselor re-submit anything else on her behalf, simply because one college is so unbelievably disorganized. It's actually pretty disgraceful. Two weeks ago they informed us we were missing all sorts of things. Incredibly, those things showed up without us doing anything. Now she's "missing" something else!

this is really weird; my counselors sent my mid year report two weeks ago, yet im still missing the 7th semester transcript

The "Pomona College Application Instructions" seem to indicate that you need both.

Under "School Report," it states:
... The Midyear Report form is due in our office by February 15, 2007.

Under "Official Transcripts," it states:
"Arrange for your high school to send us your transcript, complete through your junior year, by the application deadline. In addition, grades for the first term of your senior year must be received by our office by February 15, 2007.

I too can confirm having had a poor experience. For example, I received a letter confirming that my file was complete. Then this morning I received an email that said the first letter was sent in error. The email then said that my common application was missing. Upon calling the college, I confirmed that the college had received my common application and that the email was sent in error. They really are screwed up.

Aren't the "mid-year report" and the mid-year (7th semester) transcripts one and the same? I've never heard of a separate "mid-year report." Sounds like more busy work for a GC to deal with.

The way I interpret the instructions (per previous post), they do want both.

At son's high school, official transcripts must be requested by the student through the school's REGISTRAR. (We have to give them a stamped, addressed envelope & it is sent by the Registrar, with a signed seal.)

The Guidance Counselor fills out the Midyear Report, which asks for rank & GPA, but which doesn't ask for the transcript.

Perhaps the "double request" has come about because Pomona uses the Common App (which requires the Midyear Report), but they still want to see the full transcript.

Harvey Mudd does the same thing.
