isn't there one about mustard? my friend was complainign about it...... GOOD LUCK GUYS! :) LET'S HAVE A COLLEGE APPS ARE OVER PARTY SOMETIME..

I'll tell you some (not exactly worded since I'm writing it off the top of my head):
1. Ever been at Costco or another warehouse store and wondered why someone would buy a gigantic tub of ketchup? Tell your own story about why you or someone else would use so much ketchup.
2. Language is usally meant to connect people together. However, we at Chicago, are interested in how your language makes you unique, specifically your personal language- the way you talk to yourself, how you talk when you're surprised. You may also touch upon subtle riffs, mispronunciations, intonation.
3. You are in Mars (or the moon...) and a Mark IV teleporter can take apart your molecule conformation, send this structure message, and molecule by molecule, you are rebuilt on Earth. Are you the person who was taken apart on Mars or the person who was created on the Earth. Suppose that the Mark IV can create a the individual on Earth without destroying the original on Mars. Then, which one would you be? Wow, sorry. I really sabotaged this question and the previous two. How Chicago words it is much, much better. My friend wrote about this, and her essay was really good. She got in.
4. another one I don't remember
5. Make up an unusual prompt of your own and respond to it.
The BEST thing they said: don't stress about the essay. I didn't, and it was actually really fun to write.

Oops, I guess I meant mustad, not ketchup.

AAH, my computer's gotten so slow all of a sudden; it's killing me. It takes 3 minutes to load a page, and I've even tried my sister's computer.

those sound fun

cc..is really slow for me too right now..dont know why..

Good lord, suburbian, I can't believe you remembered that much off of the top of your head. I'm bummed because the language prompt was so meant for me, but I can't seem to make a good essay out of it. At this late in the game I'll just have to use a meh essay that I wrote earlier unless I get a burst of inspiration.

next year in mid november im going to start a warning thread.... 10 STUPID THINGS YOU SHOULDN'T DO WITH COLLEGE APPLICATIONS

Procrastinate

Procrastinate
...

ps... 6 down, 2 to go

Haha, iplayoboe. But you know that even if you do put up that warning thread, no one's going to listen to you and there's still gonna be kids on the Yale board freaking out b/c their apps aren't done yet.

I've got 10 done. 3 more to go. Columbia short answers, NYU short answers (such a pain, esp. for a school like NYU), and submitting common app to Tufts (hopefully, that'll take like 5 minutes).

We're almost done!!!! :D

Isn't there a supplement for Tufts?

A short one. I don't believe that any extra essays are required, but "optional."

Suburbian, I'm still undecided on Tufts. I am assuming I'm not going to apply (I just can't see going there over some of the small LAC's (although it is easier to get into), and if I don't get into any of the non-merit schools except for Tufts, I don't think I am willing to spend $160,000. But please, change my mind.

"But you know that even if you do put up that warning thread, no one's going to listen to you and there's still gonna be kids on the Yale board freaking out b/c their apps aren't done yet."

too right. even though i am constantly begging my junior friends not do be like, well, me, i know that they will probably will be. history repeats itself. sigh. hopefully they won't procrastinate as bad as me though.

3.5 to go...

who still has apps left..and which ones?

got 4 left but one is due on the 15th..yay..o wait 5..another due on the 9th..

ugh still got pomona and northwestern left (due tomorrow and the day after.) ahhhh!!!!

then i got haverford, emory, and UT to do (those are a little later, so i guess i'll be okay)

I still have the same 4 to do. Technically, they're due tomorrow and I should have mailed them today, but since the post office doesn't postmark for tomorrow, I'll probably put them in the mail once I get home on Monday.

I mailed my Northwestern HPME application 2 minutes before the post office closed today. I still have to do the regular application though - so i'll do that tommorow.

Do you know if colleges will let me send in a revised version of my essay after the new year?

It can't hurt to try, right?

ivyboy- sweet. I sent my Swarthmore supplement two hours before the post office closed cos my mom was freaking out that they might close early. shrug Why exactly do some schools want you to send in a paper supplement anyways?

I'm submitting my Harvard and Swat Common App right now. That means that my Swat application will be done with more than 24 hours to spare which is seriously a record for me. Yay! All I need to do for the Harvard supplement is figure out which additional essay to send. Screw UChicago and Brown; they can wait until tomorrow.

ahhh nobody else has apps?

anisha, GO FINISH! NOW.

ahhhh ur like my lil mommy..hehe
