Well I'm getting kind of sad because I have not yet received a Christmas card from Georgetown. I know that this is a silly, trivial thing to be sad over, but I just really wanted one (mainly to see what they liked about my application, since everyone seems to have gotten some little note on their card about their application).

So I'm just wondering- has anyone else who got in EA not received a Christmas card yet? I assume that we should all get one, right?

On a happier note, this local girl who is currently a Georgetown freshman called the other day, and arranged for the EA acceptees to meet for coffee. So I went last night and met with her and one other girl (the other 3 couldn't come). It was soo much fun! I asked her about 100 million questions about Georgetown (tons of stuff I wouldn't feel comfortable asking others about, like drinking and partying, etc) and she was so, so helpful. I'm really happy I did that because it cleared up any uncertainties in my mind. I also think I'm going to go the Feb. accepted students weekend a few days early so I can stay overnight with her. :)

Lauren,. can you please share some of that inside info, we really dont know much :) . Is there a big drinking scene (i hope not). Thank G*d there aren't any frats.

Well this girl certainly enjoyed partying, however she stressed over and over again that a LOT of people don't. Apparantely she and her friends like to go to the upperclassmen's townhouses on weekends but a lot of people go to parties and don't drink. And she also said that there are lots of activities to do if you don't drink (free movies, speeches, cultural events, shopping, restaurants, etc. etc.) and a lot of people choose to do these activities instead of drinking.

HOWEVER, if you do want to party, there are plenty of options available in that arena, too.

I got a "Holiday Card" (I'm Jewish) after I got in, as well as two phone calls from GU students the night after I got my letter. One was from a student from New Jersey, since I too hail from that great state, and the other was from a member of the Jewish Students Association who also is a member of one of their off-campus frats.

Also, from what I understand, Georgetown definitely has a good part scene. When I visited in the fall, there was no shortage of empty beer bottles around some of the upperclassmen's rooms. My tour guide said that the motto is "work hard, play hard," but there are things to do for those students who don't care to drink.
