Anyone else reach National AP Scholar this year?

So this year, as a junior, I made it to national ap scholar, with 9 ap's (8 5's and a 4)

I know it's just an empty title, and that it probably wasn't worth all the insanity + lack of sleep I put myself through, but it still feels good to have made my goal.

Anyone else who reached this level, please share!

i did this year… just graduated, though, so it means even less since i’m already in college.

^I think I made it (10 APs, 9 5 and 1 4) although the grade report only listed the AP scholar with honor or something like that. I also just graduated.

The title isn’t worth the effort. What IS worth the effort, though, is the fact that you took 9 AP classes and got 8 4s. That’s what is significant about getting national ap scholar.

^
yeah, I really agree…most people don’t really realize how much you learn from studying for an ap test (whether or not you actually took the class) and how useful that stuff actually becomes.

Erects a monument

I took my school’s maximum this year as a junior … 2 classes lol. I think I’m going to take 5 next year but I might make it 6 to try and get National. Although, like you said, it’s just a title.

And it only cost three years of my life : seven 5s, one 4

I’m going for it next year…I need to take 5, but I’m worried about AP English Lang, because I heard its really difficult, so I might take 6 to secure the title

^Lit is supposedly worse than Lang. I’ve heard Lang is quite easy.

Anyway, yeah I got national AP scholar this year too. Woohoo. Doesn’t matter that much to me, but considering that I didn’t study for anything (I mean, I took the class), it’s cool.

Going for it next year, which is my junior year, with 11 APs, 5 AP classes, 6 self-study. Empty title, perhaps, but at least you get to learn something from the subjects you wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Lit is worse than lang by a good bit, but lang is still one of the hardest. That’s not in respect to the difficulty of the material mind you, but to the harshness of the curve.

@MrWheezy: Good luck :p

I’m confused. I definitely qualified for it, but my friend said I should have gotten a paper along with my scores and I didn’t get that paper. (I have 6 5s and 3 4s)

To TerrenceC, I’m pretty sure you don’t get a paper until like October. You definitely qualify though, so you should get that paper!

Thanks so much for the quick response dreamsofivy =].

I have a question about my scores. I got three 5s, five 4s, a 3, and a 2. Now overall that averages out to exactly 4…but did I not make National because I “failed” one of my tests? (Physics…bleh.)

^ I hope not, because I’m in the same situation as you: 10 tests, four 5s, four 4s, one 3, and one 2, bringing my average to 4.1. I think we still qualify, don’t we? In any case, I just graduated, so it’s not like I get to put it on my application or anything. Still, I’m pretty sure I’m the only one from my school ever to get it, so that’s kind of nice. :)

I made it this year as a junior too. 7 5’s 2 4’s. all have been self study except for 1 because we learn nothing in school.

I guess I made it too. How do we get the award/do we have to formally apply for it somehow?

They send a certificate in September.

@siemprecuriosa: yay, someone in the same boat…I don’t care much either, but we know that everyone on cc wants bragging rights :)

how much do colleges value the title?
