Anyone else REALLY confused????

I'm confused. About everything. LOL. -_-

I don't think I've receieved some of the mail regarding move-in times and sign-in process and Welcome Week events. Would it be safe to assume that everything will be explained once I get there?

In addition, how much do Welcome Week events really matter? Can I just tag along with a roommate or do I actually have to look up each one online? So the entire Welcome Week consists of us attending random, non-mandatory events?

And also, I haven't ordered textbooks yet. The NYU bookstore's website asks for shipping address. I assume this means that there isn't an actual place at NYU with all the textbooks than I can just visit and purchase, right?

And about housing, I was placed in U-hall, though I never signed up for it. Pros: more space! (and my current roommates seem nice). Cons: VERY VERY VERY far from classes, and a LOT more expensive (grrr...). I was wondering how easy it is to travel back and forth from U-hall to class, though I'm guessing I'm screwed if it ever rains or snows. How long does it take to walk 10-15 New York blocks (walk, not sprint)? Also, are U-hall kids cut off from the traditional-dormers?

Last, but not least, how is the social life at NYU? Are people very friendly? Do people just become best friends with their roommates? I won't know anyone there, and I'm worried about dying of boredom or not knowing anyone in any of my classes when I need homework help. And it doesn't help that U-hall is so remote from the other dorms, in case no one at U-hall has any classes with me.

Thanks, if anyone actually read all that. =)

Uhall very far from class? dont look forward to your upperclassmen years haha

nothing in welcome week in mandatory, even if they say it is

i highly recommend going to events though

move in will be explained there buts its pretty simple

i like social life

You'll get a packet during move-in that will pretty much answer all your questions. As for the actual moving in, just show up at your dorm on the 27th with all your stuff before 5PM. You don't need to follow the last name schedule, because they don't enforce it. Morning and noon are the worst times as far as long lines and such go. The booklet you get when you get your key has all the welcome week events listed, as well as a brief description.

Also, Uhall is NOT "very very very far". All the freshman dorms are close. It takes like 5-7 minutes to walk from uhall to washington square at a reasonable pace. It'll seem far at first, but once you get used to life in the city, its CLOSE.

good social lives are easily attainable, as long as you don't isolate yourself. If you make a minimal effort (at least) to get to know people, things will work out. You don't need to be a social butterfly to have a social life; anyone can and will have one, you just have to put in SOME effort.

^^^^^^^^^^what they said....i really cant add anything else except i'm not sure about textbooks...but i'm pretty sure the bookstore has most of them...
