<p>Are we still talking about paucity? It’s on dictionary.com, and on sparknotes’s 1000 list. They need to look it up on some dictionary if they want to use it on the SAT. Maybe you weren’t looking on a comprehensive online dictionary.</p>

<p>The main definition for paucity fits the best for the sentence, you don’t need to know its obscure meanings to get it right. Also, none of the other words fit.</p>

<p>DARN IT. I bubbled in paucity at first, but then second-guessed myself. Paucity = a lack of =/= smooth</p>
