Yeah. Thanks to my excellent procrastination skills, I think I'll just do whatever I can tonight even though I know I'm not as ready as I could be, go for the "experience" tomorrow, see how I feel about it/compare answers on CC, and cancel if necessary.

A lot of people say not to cancel, but to me, re-taking SAT IIs is really unnecessary/doesn't look good.

Why? Let's say someone does really bad tomorrow, decides to study a good amt during the summer. He retakes it in October, and maybe goes up from something like a 670 to 760. Won't colleges just be able to deduce that he simply studied more? I mean, why do bad the first time, when there are practice tests? Lots of kids, when they first start prepping for sat IIs, score like in the 5-600s, and with prepping, get up to 750+. that's how "study-able" these tests are. SAT I is also study-able, but it looks much more impressive to bring up your scores since they take a LOT of mental willpower/time to bring up, and age simply can also increase scores, just because your mental capacity is growing . . . i don't really feel like sat IIs are like that.

is my reasoning completely illogical?
lol if i cancel tomorrow's, I'll have to take like 3 in october. but at least I'll have more TIME to study, and won't have school as a distractor . . .

if this is your junior year, you really shouldn't cancel. but otherwise, then yeah just wait until after summer and take all three in september. i signed up for two but im just gonna take one tomorrow.

do colleges see all your SAT II scores or just your highest one in each subject? i heard you only put the highest one on the app.

when you cancel, do colleges know that you cancelled?

so there's no bad side-effect of cancelling, other than you don't know your scores and you lose money?

they see all the scores, you have to send in your score report, no matter what you put on the app.

colleges don't know that you canceled, you just lose money and never know what you would've gotten.

HMM . . 740 on bio-e barron's book, 690 on bio-m . . .maybe it was just nerves? as long as i get 750+ on the real deal i'm happy

sarorah, I think this is true for the SAT I, but not SAT II. The idea behind the SAT II is that it tests your knowledge of a subject area, while the SAT I simply tests your natural aptitude. Trying to raise one's SAT I scores will soon run into diminishing returns, but there's no reason you can't raise your SAT II scores. There's a reason why you're allowed to retake, isn't it? If you think raising your score from 670 to 760 will make a difference to the college(s) you're applying to, go ahead and take the test.

My friend raised a 640 on the chemistry test in June to a 760 in Oct. I really think it was worth it for her since she's applying to highly selective colleges and already had one 800, so a 640 looks out of place.

I just took it today. German was bloody hard. Sehr Sehr schwer. I'm not going to cancel it though. I want to see what I got and I only sent it to IU and Ball State anyway.
