Today I was given a letter from NMSC telling me I placed somewhere in the 50,000, and that they are offering me some mystical "College Plans Reporting Service." This service appears to be the same thing as Student Search, more or less, save that the schools recieving my information would be my choice, not whoever purchases the info from CB. However, I'm not sure if there is any purpose to this if the schools already know I'm interested. Should I send this in anyway, even if I've already recieved information? It doesn't look like there's any need to.

What this means is that your PSAT scores were high enough to make you "Commended" scholar. It is approximately the top 5% of scorers in the country. NM semi-finalists will be announced next spring. As a commended student you can name 2 schools to show interest, but it is not a big deal. It won't increase your chances of being admitted or anything. It just lets schools know that you are interested in them. If you choose not to participate, you won't really lose anything.

You should still send it in. It's not complicated, and it certainly can't hurt you.
