it's april 28th and i still don't know where to go. im totally stuck between two schools. what if i make the wrong desicion and im miserable for the next four years.

People who have been through this, do you have any advice?
What do you think is the absolute most important thing when deciding what college to go to?

We are sort of in this situation----no deposits sent yet. I think my D is sure, but I (mom) am the problem---not sure about turning down one school. It is a lot of money for me, and I am a precise person, so I want to get it "right", though this is not always possible in life. As for what is the most important factor, I am getting a response of "the fit" on the thread I started yesterday, re: JHU v. Cornell, from the kind CCers who have answered. Good luck.

do deposits have to be at the college on may 1st or do they just have to be postmarked may 1st.
for me i think it's "fit" at one school versus $$ at the other school. both are the same acedemically.

I'm still deciding too, never been so confused in my entire life. :(

yes, still not sure

My mom is worried that I won't be able to get out of Merced in a year to receive my gauranteed Berkeley/UCLA tranfer or that I'll screw up my GPA and never make it out

I am not sure on the May 1st thing. We checked for D's top choice and it was postmarked by May 1. She thought most of the schools were a postmarked date of May 1, not receipt by that date. I am going to send it April 30 and will use one of the faster USPS options, maybe express mail, since it gives proof of mailing, for a decent price.
