Anyone else submit an essay for Ayn Rand's contest?

Sorry if this in the wrong forum.

Anyways, did anybody else participate from College Confidential? If so, which prompt did you choose? And does anybody know how hard it is to win in this contest?

Judging by the past winning essays posted on the site, I’d say it’s not that hard to win.

I was going to enter, but then I remembered I don’t like essay contests (mostly because I’m too lazy to write an essay).

Do any of you know how many people participate in the fountainhead contest?

I’ll try to find those past essays posted on here…

Anyways, does anybody who has already entered want to exchange essays through private message, just for the sake of gauging competition I suppose?

@VanillaBean22 I’m pretty sure 5000+ enter, as I think the large cash prize attracts tons of students.

Thanks, also sorry about not exactly answering the questions you posed on the thread: I chose the first prompt about Toohey and Roark’s encounter and I’m not sure how difficult it is to win

Oh, nice. I was thinking about doing that one but ended up completing the one on Gail Wynand and why he panders to the masses. @VanillaBean22

I’m submitting to the Anthem essay contest

I submitted to the Anthem essay contest this year. Still waiting to hear back, crossing my fingers!

Does anyone know the date they will announce winners?

@VanillaBean22 July 26th, I believe.

Anyone get an email today saying “Your Essay is in Final Review?” Wondering if everyone got this email or if it was just a few people.

Still nothing…

I got that email and was wondering the same thing @sey927.

Anyways, sort of bummed that we find out on the 31st now…

you did the fountainhead contest, correct? do you know of anyone else who entered for the fountainhead/if they got that email or not?

didn’t get that email either… :frowning:

Also, there is another anthem thread where people say they’ve gotten results back. Thoughts?

*ayn rand essay (not anthem, whoops): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/other-major-scholarships-competitions/1791319-2015-ayn-rand-anthem-essay-contest-p1.htm

Neither did I, but I am in Anthem.

Here was the exact email I received…

"Greetings!

Thanks for your submission into the Ayn Rand Institute’s 2015 The Fountainhead essay contest. I’m writing to let you know that your essay is still in review for one of only 236 prizes. We received more than 2,500 entries into this year’s contest, so the competition for cash prizes is fierce! Our judges are working hard, narrowing the field down to those final, prize-winning essays. We now expect to notify all participants by July 31st of the winning essays.

Thanks again for your participation! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Sincerely
…"
