I've been accepted as a freshman for 2010-11 and I made an account and went to the page to do the housing application and when I login I get this message:

"Your Request could not be completed!
The site is offline or an error occurred. We have recorded the error for review by the appropriate staff. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Please click here to restart the application. "

I know I'm logging in properly because when I deliberately type in the wrong passphrase I simply get a message that I've failed to login because of an incorrect passphrase, and when I type in my information correctly I get the message I pasted above.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't the only dope who got this, so if someone could confirm that, I would be grateful.

When did you create your account? If I recall correctly, it took about 24 hours or so before my daughter’s newly created account would work on the housing site last year. I’ll also mention Bloomington is experiencing it’s largest snowfall of the year today. I know sometimes weather conditions negatively impact websites. I have heard that a main road in the area where IU’s tech center is located maybe be shut down for some reason. That might be the source of the issue.

That’s a good point, rrah, about the weather; considering I live in Indianapolis and saw the radar this morning, I should have figured that could be the issue (:

I created my account Saturday night, and since then I’ve had this problem. I’m going to email some of my friends who’ve also been accepted, and have them try and apply for housing and see if they have the same problem. If I’m still unable to login by next weekend, I’ll definitely call IU.

Bulstrode, it is really common to get that message. I don’t know why, but it happens a lot, and it probably doesn’t have anything to do with how you created your account. My son has been in IU housing two years now and he and I got that message repeatedly after he missed one of the renewal periods and we needed to get back in a month later to see if his room was still unassigned and to register for his current room again. So just keep trying periodically.
