I always get a little annoyed when people talk about their "passage reading strategies" on CC. Although they work for some people, i always get frustrated when it never seems to work for me. I stick with the simple way: read the passage, answer the questions based on the passage, looking back at the passage carefully. I know some people who do bad need strange methods to improve, but for those of you who do well in CR (750+), do you agree that it is often easier and more efficient to just read the passage and answer the questions? I feel kinda left out sometimes when people are talking about their passage reading "strategies." xD

I always first read the questions and then read the passages.DO THIS .You may think now it is a waste of time ,but it is NOT .When you read the question first you will know what to look for in the passage. Then when you find it ,just move to the next question..

I do what you do. Read the passage, answer questions while making occasional reference to the indicated lines.

It's not rocket science, lol

Yup. I find that if I read the questions first then read the passage, my brain focuses on finding the info in the question so much that I miss other details. But I usually read in chunks and answer the questions pertaining to the section first before moving on.

I personally don't read the questions beforehand. First of all, you're going to read them again, and you'll have a better perspective after having read the passage. Reading the questions before takes up valuable time. Second, you can only cram so much information into your short term memory. You're going to forget a lot of the questions while reading the passage.

That's what I did. 800. (:

Most questions on the passage based reading are reference questions that point you to particular lines in the text. It's really easy to just first read the question and go back to the text. It saves a lot of time. Personally, I always skim through the questions first.

I read the passage, and then answer the questions, referring back if necessary.

800 and a 790 CR.

My kids read very fast, but they read the passage first. Two 800s for the oldest 75 on the PSAT for the younger one.
