Anyone else waiting over two months now?

By comparison, UPitt seems to be issuing decisions within 2 weeks of receiving the application, scores, transcript. Even allowing for the higher # of applications to Penn State, either UPitt is super-efficient or Penn State is a bit tardy.

I think the problem is that we were told that admissions were “rolling”, this was mentioned many times during the tour we took of the school. My daughter is also anxiously waiting since everything was documented as received about 5 weeks ago, maybe more. If the school indicated that the majority of students wouldn’t hear until Dec. the anxiety would of been lessened. My daughter also applied to Maryland and the wait period is not as difficult since we know decisions won’t be posted until Jan 15th.

I submitted my application 7 days ago, got a 2100 on my SAT, and got my letter today.

Quick turnaround.

This isn’t truly rolling admissions at all. I’m sure what they are doing is admitting the “shoe-ins” immediately and putting the more borderline candidates on the back burner until they see who else comes across the desk. My D applied in early Oct. and hasn’t heard. The
“your application is complete” message has been there for weeks. I’ve stopped checking every day It might be good for everyone’s mental state to pretend that you applied regular decision to a non-rolling admit school. It might be January before most of us hear.

In the meantime she got into Pittsburgh within two weeks of applying. We’re going to visit soon.

Good luck everyone!

Did anyone else get this email yesterday? I clicked on the site for schreyers at some point in October before I submitted my application but didn’t apply since I didn’t think my stats were good enough. I still don’t think I would get into Schreyers.

Dear xxxxx: I’m glad to see that you have applied to Penn State, and that you’ve taken a look at the Schreyer Honors College application in your My Penn State online account. This message is a reminder that while the priority deadline for completing and submitting the SHC application was November 30, we will be reviewing all applications submitted by December 20 in that priority application pool. If you do intend to complete and submit the SHC application, note that your teachers and counselor can start their part of the process once you submit their names and email addresses in the SHC application—you don’t have to submit the completed application to give them access to our recommendation forms.

Your Penn State application will be reviewed on the same timeline, and with the same criteria, whether or not you apply to the Schreyer Honors College. If you do complete and submit the SHC application, we will notify you about your status around February 20 or shortly after you receive an admissions decision from Penn State, whichever date is later. For more information about the SHC you can visit http://www.shc.psu.eduand if you have any questions we invite you to contact us at scholars@psu.edu or by phone at (814) 865-2060. There is no need to reply to this message, and please accept our apologies in advance if you’ve received this message more than once.
Best wishes for a successful senior year, and we look forward to reviewing your SHC application if you do choose to submit one!

i got the email also and already had my teachers submit recommendations but i dont have the time nor the willingness to devote myself to crafting three awesome essays to an honors program that i have very lil chance of being accepted to :D

I have very little chance of acceptance as well! Do you think they sent this to everyone then? Would it increase my chance of admittance to PSU if I submitted an app to schreyers? I do have some essays from other schools that I’ve applied to that could be used for this

i kinda think it was to anyone who just clicked on the application for shreyers lol go for it! ya got nothing to lose

Applied mid Ocotober, accepted as of dec 1st
Hopefully you’ll get them soon as well!

^^ I applied mid September and was very, very borderline (3.4 UW and 1820/2400 SAT)
I was accepted into the College of Liberal Arts as of December 2nd.
So I wouldn’t rule yourselves out yet, I know the wait is horrendous, but good news may still be to come!! Good luck!

My DS applied at the beginning of Oct and just found out by checking his status that he was accepted. He is OOS. So still hang in there.

Like the one person who got an email from SHC, I did too.

However, mine had a little bit more than I bargained for.

Keep in mind, my status STILL just says complete. However, maybe they jumped the gun? Or maybe they have me in their systems as accepted but they haven’t updated the site for whatever reason?

It’s confusing. I got excited and told everyone I got accepted, if I haven’t I’m going to be kind of upset. This is the exact email, it’s different enough for me to think it wasn’t one sent to just everyone:

"Dear ME =D: I’m glad to see that you have recently been offered admission to Penn State’s University Park campus for next summer or fall. Congratulations! This message is a reminder that you are still able to apply to the Schreyer Honors College, Penn State’s undergraduate honors program for students in all majors. If you’re not familiar with the SHC and how it can enrich your Penn State experience, please visit our website at [Schreyer Honors College](http://www.shc.psu.edu) and watch our “What is Schreyer?” video. You can also view a PDF version of our brochure.
Because many Penn State applicants only become familiar with the SHC when they complete their Penn State application near the November 30 priority deadline, we are extending the deadline for SHC applications to be considered in our first round of review. If you apply to the SHC by December 20, your application will be considered in the same pool as earlier applications. Don’t wait until you have decided whether or not to accept your Penn State offer—you’ll be too late for SHC consideration.
If you do intend to complete and submit the online SHC application, note that your teachers and counselor can start their part of the process once you submit their names and email addresses in the application—you don’t have to submit the completed application to give them access to our recommendation forms.
Some important things to note:
· If you submitted an online Penn State application, the SHC application will be available in your My Penn State account whether or not you checked the SHC box during the regular Penn State application process.

· If you submitted a paper application to Penn State, your My Penn State online account should contain the SHC application; if it doesn’t, please contact us at scholars@psu.edu.

· First-year entrants to the SHC receive an Academic Excellence Scholarship of $3500 per year, renewable for four years. This scholarship is in addition to any need or merit-based funding you may receive from Penn State.

The SHC is limited to 300 incoming Penn State students, so admission is highly selective. If you do complete and submit the SHC application, we will notify you about your status around February 25. If you have any questions we invite you to contact us at scholars@psu.edu or by phone at (814) 865-2060. There is no need to reply to this message, and please accept our apologies in advance if you’ve received this message more than once.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season, and we look forward to reviewing your SHC application if you do choose to submit one!

wow im pretty sure you made it just call to make sure but i dont think they would get into more depth if you hadnt been accepted already congrats!

i too have been waiting since applying in september with very borderline stats. do you think giving the admissions office a call would do anything?

I found out this morning, I was actually accepted! Yay. : )

Into the college of education.

Don’t worry about borderline stats. Especially the SAT. It worried me too. My SAT score is only 1520. But I got in!

If I wanted the college of engineering I would of probably gotten rejected. But my major is also one not usually sought after. (World Languages specializing in Spanish) I also have too many extra curriculars, a job. But not much community service.

I need to find a way up there now. It’s a good 5 hours away. Ahaha. Roadtriiip.

My D just saw her new status this morning! Accepted! I think she applied undeclared Arts and Sciences. Her SATs were 1370/1600 with 3.6 GPA when applying. We sent her first quarter grades which were much higher this term. She applied in mid October. She floated to school this morning!

By the way, We are OOS.

That’s strange that you’ve been waiting for that long, I sent my application in November 23rd/24th and got accepted on December 5th… I honestly was not expecting to hear back so quickly. They must have rolling?

Spreesh congrats, are u out of state? What was ur gpa if u don’t mind telling me…I’m anxiously waiting and applied to school of education too

Thought this might be helpful. My daughter has applied to University Park, her file was complete around Oct. 20th since her school didn’t send out the transcripts until the second week in Oct. It has felt like a really long process since she actually applied beginning of Sept and is still waiting for a decision.

I contacted admissions yesterday to just reconfirm that they recieved all the info and they were nice enought to tell me that everything is there but her file hadn’t been reviewed yet. I also found out that their system is not exactly rolling. Files are not reviewed in the order in which they arrive so it is not uncommon for someone who applied later than you to find out first, doesn’t seem like a fair system but that’s the way it’s set up, at least according to admissions. She also told me that students might find out if they were accepted in Dec. or end of Jan., also doesn’t mean anything whether you are notified earlier or later. I hope this info helps calm those who are reading too much into things but no matter which way you look at this it is still a very stressful process.

i am trying to remain patient…its just annoying because literally everyday someone else from my school goes around saying i got accepted into penn state! when they have very similar stats to mine, maybe a tiny bit higher but nothing significant and applied later
