Anyone ever taken AP Environmental Science?

I'm thinking about taking this class next year as an independent study. Especially because I think I'm going to go on to architecture, and the whole Green building thing is "in". Has anyone taken this class? I'd just like to get some opinions on it and how diffcult it was, and perhaps if anyone got anything out of it.

I'm also going to take AP calc and AP physics(self-study) next year, and want to make sure that APenvsci wont take up too much time or effort. Is it harder than AP Bio/Chem/Physics?

I'm taking the class right now. I would definitely say that it is not harder than AP Bio/Chem/Physics. It shouldn't be too hard to self-study, though I wouldn't really know since I've never self-studied an AP. If you've taken or studied for AP Bio, much of the information overlaps, such as biomes, predator-prey relationships, and nutrient cycles. Some of the information, you probably already know, such as what causes global warming. There are also some laws you will need to know. You should probably first take a practice test (you might be able to get one from the teacher who teaches APES at your school), and see how much you already know. Well, I hope this helps, and good luck!

they have it at my school and its known as the easiest AP (besides Psychology). I'm thinking about taking it next year so yeah...

it depends on what you want to get out of the class. if you want a 5, it will be hard because most of it is rote memorization. if you are good at calculations (chem, physics) then this class may not be for you. i'm taking it right now and even though at our school APES has the reputation to be a slacker course, i have found it actually to be pretty challenging (or that could be because of the senioritis) mainly because of how much material there is. good luck!

APES is a breeze...take it and don't worry about it.

APES is NOT challenging. Most of the concepts are common sense, and the others you have probably already learned in Bio or Chem. I'm in the process of taking it now, so I can't say anything about the AP exam, but it shouldn't be bad. On every test, though, we have an essay question from a past AP test. You really only need common sense and -some- background in science to be able to make up an answer.
