Anyone fail a class twice?

Took this class last semester and got a D.

I'm retaking it now with the same professor and despite working 100x harder, I still failed the midterm I took last week. Even though I've improved on the homework, the midterm doesn't seem to follow the same pattern compared to last semester.

It seems like no matter what I do for this course, I just can't seem to do well!

What makes this a REALLY sad story is this is 1 of the 2 remaining engineering classes I have left in order to graduate!

I've completed senior design, did a few internships, and struggled with the entire engineering program for 6 years, and I'm sad ALLLL of this is going to be for nothing just because I am not good at this ONE particular subject.

I honestly, didn't know academics can be this depressing. My mind is constantly racing with thoughts, it's preventing me from sleeping at night and focusing in class. Anyone have any advice out there?

I don’t know the specific structure of this class, but you should have the ability to still overcome that exam and do alright in the end, correct? What makes the exam that much more difficult than the homeworks? The best advice I can say is keep persevering and seek help from the professor/TAs, try to learn from your mistakes on the exam, etc.

Career repeats:

Diff Eq - 3 times (only retook final tho - Elbonia college policy)
Surveying I (1x - passed class, failed lab, repeated both yikes )
Metal Structures (1x - my own thesis adviser flunked me “I had to flunk a few students and I knew you would not mind” - retook final only)
Scientific programming (D first time - Fortran with hugely arrogant TA - repeated for an A)
