Anyone familiar with RUE (Resumed Undergraduate Education) Program?

Hello all,

I’m potentially interested in applying to Brown via the RUE program. However, I have had a somewhat difficult time finding much information about it. I called and requested material from Brown, but what I received wasn’t the most thorough exploration of the program.

Does anyone here know anything/have experience/know RUE students?

I was hoping to learn how the RUE student experience may differ from the traditional undergrad experience. Also, any information on the type of students normally selected for admission would be beneficial. I graduate high school in 2002, so I believe I have to apply as a RUE student.

Any help would be appreciated.

I suggest you do a search of the Brown Daily Herald for the program -- there have been several stories about it.

I'm not sure you qualify as RUE, you may have to apply as a traditional student. There are very few RUE students -- I don't know how many apply, but I think it's pretty tough to get in.

I graduated in 2001, and came to Brown in 2007. I wasn't eligible to be a RUE because of my age, I was a bit young. I know a good portion of the RUE's on campus and most have become good friends. I usually eat lunch in their office.

Getting into the RUE program is tough since they only admit a handful of them every year, there is no typical admit. A few were in the military, one was a professional dancer, but I think everyone has an interesting story. The ages range from 25 to some in their 40's.

Thank you both for the information. After speaking with an admissions rep, I learned that I am eligible to apply via either route. Since I have spent a year at other colleges, I was advised to apply as a "traditional" transfer student. Thanks again for the help.
