Actually, I should be, because my two oldest ds took it - but I have no idea where their score reports might be or if they'd contain the info I'm looking for. D3 is scheduled to take this test on Saturday, and has developed ice cold feet because she didn't do as well as she'd like on the practice test given in class. I should say she doesn't know exactly how she's done, only that she's missed "a lot" of questions. Apparently they're halfway through reviewing the test, and will receive their actual scores tomorrow.

So I'm wondering - is this a test with a very forgiving curve? I haven't been able to find anything about this online. D was hoping to score 650, in order to place out of the language requirement at some of the schools on her list. (AP Latin is not going to happen with this kid.)

She's scheduled US History and Latin for Saturday, but now is thinking she'd like to take only the history test, or perhaps substitute a math for Latin (I don't think this is a good idea without prep first, though she's good at math). Any ideas or suggestions out there?

I took it and got a 770. The curve is very, very good. I didn't even think I did that well; apparently, you can get 10 or so wrong/blank and still get a 750+. It's pretty awesome.

frazzled:

Let's hope for the best! My S took Latin through Latin III but did not take SATII Latin. He took the foreign language tests administered to incoming freshmen and placed out of the requirement based on a score of 600+ (I don't know how much higher he scored). He actually scored higher in Latin than in Spanish, although he'd taken Spanish IV. So the curve must indeed be rather generous.

I can't help either. Mathson took the AP, but not the SAT.

Generous or not, she'll probably never know, 'cause she didn't take it! :) She was so intensely anxious that, after a talk with her Latin teacher, she decided against chancing a poor performance. She had been hoping to be finished with testing this spring - instead, she'll take at least one more SAT II this fall. Will it be Latin? I'd be amazed. I think she'll do the Math iic and possibly chem, though it doesn't seem as if she really needs them. She isn't applying to any Ivies or Ivy-type schools, and they're the ones that require 3 SAT IIs. My d's schools either recommend subject tests or consider them if submitted. This seems to mark a big change from when my older ds went through this process.

Thanks for your input, folks!
