Anyone feel awkward about what college they're going to?

I got into a fairly prestigious university, which I am going to attend, God willing. Many of my friends are attending, or will be attending, less prestigious universities, and when I'm with them, I'm often asked by people we meet up with where I'm going. In my social and cultural milieu, college prestige and academics are somewhat important. I feel awkward because I don't like people assuming that I'm smart because of the university I will be attending (which is a silly thing to do in general) when I'm just trying to have fun partying. Sometimes people react, 'oh, okay,' but other times, they're like 'you're so smart' or have a jealous look on their faces. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Just tell them you haven't picked yet.

or just say something like "a school on the east coast," (but where your school actually is).

The subject of where I will be attending next year is going to be a slightly embarrassing topic all summer. It's always harder to tell people you're going to a very prestigious college.

I don't think you'll be able to get around saying what college you're going to. Just mention it briefly but quickly switch to another topic about the other person's interest in majors or what not.

I think that you shouldn't worry about your situation. There are some people out there who are probably embarassed about their college because it is not prestigious or maybe they are not going to one at all. I think they would consider your situation to be a lot better than theirs.

It's harder if you go to a less prestigious and less known school. When I tell people where I'm going they're like where? Or they have nothing else to say about it. They usually just change the subject, like I'm going to some community college or something.
