<p>I think it's safe to say that most of these supposed super-well-rounded geniuses are perhaps some of the most uninteresting people you could hope to find. I say this from extensive personal experience (at an Ivy no less). 100 "EC"s can't substitute charm, wit, or some good old panache.</p>
<p>I think a lot of adcom's have learned to see through the superficial layer of E.C.'s and GPA's, which would explain why many on this forum shockingly find thin packages in the mail.</p>
<p>Just like the OP, I was freaked out by this forum when I started lurking. I was especially freaked out when I saw people asking if they should retake 2300+ or 750+ on SAT or SAT II, while I would've just been extremely happy and never even think about retaking if I was able to get those scores. But one thing I can say is that even though it freaked me out, it did help me to realize the competition and that I should try to improve my SAT and other things.</p>
