Okay, so my senior class schedule is as follows:
1) AP English Literature
2) AP Calculus
3) US Government 1st semester-my school doesn't offer AP Gov :(, 2nd semester either free period or Jewelry
4) Spanish IV
5) AP European History
6) ??????

So, for my blank ? class, I could either take
1) A free period (would it be bad for selective colleges?) OR
2) Astronomy (a slacker class, but it interests me slightly) OR
3) French I (I love languages) OR
4) AP US History (would 3 social studies classes be too much? It's my favorite subject)

I want to major in international relations in college (which has nothing to do with science, which I hate- would it be so terrible to drop science completely?).

I also want to get into a very selective college like Georgetown, Claremont McKenna, or USC, so what would be the best option?

Doesn't really matter, the extra AP might look nice but at the same time, some colleges require 4 years of science in which case you might want to go for astronomy; look into that.

Free periods aren't always bad. They give you more time to study and such, and they give you more time for those beloved EC's.

I'm taking:
Period 0: Vocal Ensemble
Period 1: Bible as Literature
Period 2: Government and Economics
Period 3: Introduction to Philosophy and Ethics
Period 4: Concert Choir
Period 5: Teacher's Aide
And we have 8 available classes. But 7 & 8 are traditionally for sports, so really I only have 1 free period as well.

if i were you, i'd take ap us history because no offense but at my school- most juniors take ap us history but my school is pretty competitive. also selective colleges like seeing aps..
this year, i'm taking 3 sciences, i'm also worried about the workload but i'm excited about the challenge. but if 3 history aps, don't appeal to you, then i suggest taking a science.

good luck!

What do you do in Jewlery? Sounds like a fun class...

Jewelry is uber-fun, if the teacher likes you, a big IF- she hates underclassmen but oddly liked me when i took her class- well, considering all I did was sit in a corner and play with metal (you don't actually have to make anything) all period long, not talking to anyone (what can I say, I was in 9th grade). You're supposed to make silver/wax rings, and stuff with wire like bracelets and necklaces and stuff. Of course, it's a slacker class but I don't particularly care (anyway, at my school taking 6 APs is nearly impossible/not a good idea; the weird impersonal counselors frown upon anyone taking more than 2, thinking they'll die from homework exhaustion)

^ that sounds like a 5th grade "craftmaking" class rofl.
