Where would the student stay? In a hotel, or all three nights in a dorm?

I think, correct me if I'm wrong, we'll stay with a "host" in his/her dorm.

Yeah, there are a few questions on the registration form, designed to match prefrosh with hosts.

Regrettably, I will not be going due to money issues. Just can't afford to pay for the flight right now. :/

Hosts usually e-mail or call their students to share dorm room combinations and sleeping arrangements, but unfortunately there will not be very much advanced notice this year. The prefrosh weekend registration form was due last week (I think), but Caltech students are out on Spring Break; in my house at least, students will learn whom they're hosting next Monday at the earliest.

If you are considering CALTECH, and have not visited, I strongly advise you to do so. The campus environment is soooo different from any other school, and I include MIT in this, that you really need to experience it first hand before deciding that this is for you.

Did anyone recieve any confirmation email or anything like that? I faxed my registration form on the last day (last 30min, I should say), and I'm kind of worry. lol

mia305 is absolutely right. Visiting Caltech really changed the way I thought about it (for the better).

vanita, no confirmation yet.....this year the process is rather delayed it seems like

Vanita: I noticed on the prefrosh page, they asked you to email as well as send in the application.

Also, please send us an email to prefrosh@admissions.caltech.edu to let us know you plan on attending. This is so we can notify you if your forms haven't been received.

i got a verification today from Jamila

I also got verification today. I'm so excited for PFW!!! :-D Can't wait until I have a host/get in contact with my host... hopefully it will not be a problem that I'm getting to caltech at 1AM! hahaha Caltech students often stay up late, right...?

the only problem might be trying to find your host's hovse when it is all dark and creepy.....
we are driving down friday afternoon so I don't miss any more days of school

You shouldn't have a problem finding where your host lives- people will recognize you as a prefrosh (it's pretty easy to tell, sorry) and be more than willing to help you out. Also, 7 out of the 8 houses are located within a minute's walking distance of each other (literally), so you won't be too far off.

lalaloo6: 1AM is the time when things start to pick up, especially on pre-frosh weekend... getting here at 1am won't be a problem for any of us.

lol, I got my confirmation mail. phew....

I'm very excited, too. Here is WI we're still having snow, so I actually have to dig out my summer clothes. :D

i havent gotten any confirmation yet... =/

I haven't gotten it either...may be it will come through today's mail. In the meantime, you can printout the relevent Prefrosh material from Caltech website. Good luck to all!

wait does it come thru mail or e-mail?

I just got a second email about the confirmation that they linked the wrong tentative schedule

@ Jabosh, I got the same.

The odd thing for me, thought, was that the link on my 1st email worked just fine (supposedly the wrong link), whereas I got an error message for the 2nd one (supposedly the corrected one).
