My son applied. I assume because he didn't hear on Sat. he didn't get in.
thanks

...I wouldn't make such an assumption unless you know that there were kids who heard good news on Saturday.

The perception here is that late news is probably bad news. But there are two problems with that. First, each school handles the release of decisions differently. Second, with March 10 falling on a Saturday, it's even less clear as to what the timing means.

Take, for example, the process used by Andover. They have two tracks. An overnight delivery track for acceptances, scheduled to arrive on 3/10. And a regular mail delivery for other news. Typically -- for Andover -- late news would be bad news. But Saturday delivery by UPS (Andover's carrier of choice) isn't available in all locations. So there's no telling...unless your next-door-neighbor got a package from Andover.

Contrast that with Exeter which typically mails its decisions by regular U.S. mail -- good and bad alike -- on March 10. There the news would come at the same time. But it seems that Exeter took its bulk mailing to the post office late Friday...to avoid a pointless weekend trip to the post office just to haul the mail in for a March 10 postmark. Some people -- close to Exeter -- have reported receiving decisions from Exeter. But that doesn't mean they mailed out good news first. At least one person reported receiving bad news on Saturday. So Exeter news of all kinds will be hitting many mailboxes today...and some more will hit the mailboxes tomorrow. The only thing you can infer from the timing is that the longer you wait, the further away from Exeter you live.

If all the people you know who applied to RoxLatin had received good news so far...you might sweat it some. But for now, without more information on how RoxLatin handles its mailings, your odds are exactly the same as it as 10-12 days ago.

GOOD LUCK!

I hope you are right. RL is his first choice so my fingers are crossed.

Mamom,

Did your son get into RL?

No, that was back in 2007. He is at another private and doing very well.
