Anyone from FIT? Need some help

Hey guys,

I want to apply for fit - Interior Design AAS and then take BA, or accessories Design. I've been looking at the homepage I cant find the tutition fee or internatiol students. Are they the same as students not living in NY? Because is much cheaper than other Uni's I've been looking at.

Also, Portfolio! Ah, HELP ME.
I've been attending to a one years interior design course now... but how do FIT want their portfolios? Did you guys send in your portfolio?

And... any advices? Living in NY? The expenses? The school and its reputation?

thank u very much :)

FIT has a reputation as one of the top Interior Design schools in the US, and in the world. Their graduates go on to do good things.

Things I really like about FIT are its absolute focus on its areas of expertise, and the connections that they have within those industries. A large number of high powered, successful graduates and professors act as a resource for current students. If you're interested in the subjects that they teach, it's a facinating place to study. Their location, right in the middle of NYC, is also invaluable in these fields. After all, NYC is the centre of interior design in the US (and I could argue beyond the US). The resources at your disposal will be unlike those you'd have access to if you went to school elsewhere.

That said, NYC is an expensive place to live, in comparison to many cities. But where do you live now? "Expensive" is relative. And most students in NYC do things, like sharing apartments, to cut the cost of living. FIT has a housing office that you can contact via email or phone for help with cost of living questions, housing questions and etc.

Likewise, you should email their admissions office to ask your questions about tuition and fees. Note, though, that because FIT is part of the State University of New York, the tuition there may be lower, even for an international student, than at Parsons, which is private.

BTW, if you're looking at FIT, also look at Parsons, which is a part of the New School for Social Research, also in NYC. With FIT, Parsons is in the top 2 Interior Design programs in the US.
