Hey everyone, so I was basically wondering if you guys know any Pakistanis who got into some top-tier U.S. universities (especially Ivy League). Please don't answer with (I heard that my uncle's friend's son...) etc. Just mention people who you are sure that got in, and if possible mention their stats as well. I haven't seen any Pakistanis on CC who were accepted early decision or anything in some top universities. I'm applying to some really selective universities so I hope to hear some encouraging cases.

why didn't you post this into the Pakistani thread man? You'd find more replies!

yeah but I was hoping that maybe some university kids knew about pakistanis who study at their universities. And besides the Pakistani thread is only used by a few people.

Well, greenboy. Ivies (and similarly super-selective colleges) require people that are wayyy beyond ordinary! I'm talking about the people who have 7+ A's in their AS Level, SATs are 2200+. Their ECs are beyond the ordinary community work, something like International Youth Forums and stuff like that! I would really suggest you to look for some reasonable Universities. Any maybe later, get transfered to a better university! All the best... :)

Thanks for the advice talha but I've already applied to my universities including some ivies. I think I have a slight chance at them and know what it takes to get in. No actually the point of this thread is to find out how extraordinary Pakistanis need to be to get in cause in recent years I haven't heard of any getting in. The last person I heard about got into UPenn back in 2005.

Im sure talha knows about at least two people who got into dart and stanford last year :)

One got into Princeton from lahore. 2400 and 2350. 8As.Atleast two got into yale. i havent heard of anyone anywhere who got into yale harvard or princeton without 2350 plus in both SATS in the last two sessions atleast.

Profile A: JSRW (to prevent evasion of privacy)
Accepted: Princeton, MIT
Rejected: Harvard, Yale, Stanford

Stats: Academic
SAT I: 2350 (w=800, m=800, cr=750)
SAT II: 2400 (phy, chem, maths IIC)

O Levels: 12 As
O Level Distinctions: 3 in the world (top in physics, best 8 O Level, best 9 O Level)

A Levels: 8As

Yeah, Flibb is right! I do know MORE than 2 people who got into Ivies. :)

Last year, a guy from our school got into Dartmouth he had 9 As in O levels and 5 As in AS level. He was the organizer of the school MUN, had done a lot of work in film-making. (Actually doing a minor in that right now). I don't know his SAT scpres.

Another guy took a gap-year last year. worked A LOT on his apps and SATs. In the end, he got into UChicago, Stanford and similar really selective Universities!

well talha I was talking about the two who got in last year....I know there are a lot more....courtesy of some highly funded advertising programs :D

hmm...gap year? I didn't know that important piece of information...

Thanks for the replies guys. Those guys you mention seem top-notch. But could you guys tell me what year they got into those universities. Recently?

The Dartmouth and Stanford people got in the last session (2008-09)

And before that, we know a lot of people getting in...

Oh good last year. I was worried cause I didn't hear about anyone getting in after 2005. Thats encouraging thanks.

The year before that was Saba Zaidi. (With her 4-5 distinctions) and the year before that was, Samad Khurram. (With is 5-6 distinctions!) :D

Also the one in princeton (I won't name her :) )

Yeah I think we can all agree on Samad Khurram being extraordinary. I think not having a distinction is gonna hurt me as are my not so exceptional extra-cirricullars. Their not bad but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm really counting on my academics and essays to pull me through somehow.

true that

Hey green jack. The person in profile A was the headboy for LGS and is in Princeton's class of 2012. He was also among the top 5 in the NSTC contest. So he's recent. And he's game.

P.s. He got wait listed at Harvard. Now for someone who got INTO Harvard..
