So my DD just got a call from a current Carnegie-Mellon student. Her "Where am I in the Process" says., MSC Call #1. I'm assuming that means Making Student Connections.

Anyone else get a call? She's feeling pretty psyched, but before she gets too excited, I'm wondering is this standard operating procedure for Carnegie Mellon or a tiny bit of something positive?

This is a standard operating procedure and does not mean anything in terms of admission OR rejection. I know this because I used to make those calls. The callers are literally given a list of applicants who have, at some point, demonstrated interest in CMU (usually by applying, though sometimes attending an info session can also put you on the list) and they are student employees at the admissions office who are supposed to call and ask questions. They are not writing down the answers or reporting the outcome of the call to anyone. It is just to give the call-ee more information about CMU if s/he wants to know anything.

Thanks… she really loves plaid.

Don’t feel bad, Momma. This is an exciting process for you and your daughter and I wish you both the best! 'Til April!
