I got the regents one, but it wasn't very big. I want to know if all the big ones were already sent out.

Only got regents so far.

I got an $80,000 one today ($20 per year) though there wasn't a title for it. Just an envelope from LSA.

Congratulations! I'm jealous.

As am I. Does anyone know anything about the Gloria Wille Bell and Carlos R. Bell Scholarship? I applied, but don't know when the recipients will know who they are.

I got a 20,000/ year one from the college of engineering in January.

I got the $10,000 per year (in-state) one around december/january. I'm in the LSA if that helps.

mzeasy,

Are you out of state? It seems like Michigan is giving all of their big scholarships to people out of state (probably to compensate for the higher tuition).

Also, did anyone apply for the MSPE scholarship?

I got a random $40,000 scholarship today (10/year as long as I keep a 3.5 gpa)
I'm in state, LSA, just an envelope like mzeasy

Yeah, I am out of state...

Its nice, because with their original financial aid package, there would have been no possibility in me even being able to consider Michigan.

Where are you guys getting this info?? I'M SCARED NOW!

mzeasy, do you mind posting your stats?

"Also, did anyone apply for the MSPE scholarship?"

Yeah, I really want to get at least one of the U-M Specific MSPE Scholarships. I don't know when the recipients are notified though... If anyone knows I would really like to know as well :) .

Not at all...

SAT/ACT: 2060(didn't submit)/29 (superscored 30)
GPA: 4.2W, 4.0UW
Race: White
School: Horrible public school
Location: Atlanta, GA
EC's: Band (Section leader), Beta Club, Boys & Girls Volunteer, and a few others.

Anything else you would like to know?

I've heard that OOS "merit" scholarships are based on need of a family.

...so I guess my only other question would be about your family's income, but I could understand if you don't want to talk about that.

I am reasonably sure that OOS merit scholarships--at least LSA and Shipman--are not based on family need.

Well the letter ambiguously referenced BOTH need and merit

ooh new michigan thread!

How do you guys get the scholarship? Did you apply the scholarships separately? oh my god… $80,000 is awesome…

a little late? haha. i did indeed get the shipman scholarship, 20k x 4. i refused it though, chose UW madison (instate thus after calculations still cheaper overall) over it. you dont specifically apply for it, you get considered for it automatically through the admission process.
