Anyone get in with a 32 ACT or lower?

Just wondering, and if you did, were you stacked in your other areas of the application?

Oh I got in with a 1970 SAT1 score

@Vogelscheuche - dude that’s the SAT, hes asking about the ACT, and from what I’ve heard, no one gets in w/out a 34.

mtb, a 1970 SAT is similar to a 31ish for ACT, so it’s relevant.

Test scores aren’t the only thing the look at. According to collegeboard, the middle 50% of WashU students scored 32-34 on the ACT. If WashU only accepted people with a 34 or higher, they really wouldn’t have a well-rounded student body at all.

Yeah, I agree with hiltzation…I got in with a 1910, but I WashU holistically reads everyone’s application…they really try to found a well-rounded applicant, not a person with just high test scores

My daughter will be a sophomore at WashU in August. She was accepted with a 31 (she took the ACT twice and sent both scores to WashU - they were both 31s) and received a great scholarship and financial aid package. She loves it and did very well her first year. As a matter of fact, she was accepted and received a scholarship to study abroad in China this year with WashU. She leaves Friday.

I don’t think she had anything outstanding on her app. In high school she played 3 years of tennis, was on the GSA and foreign language clubs and culinary arts. She also took private lessons to learn Chinese.

Very cool Akward. Did she have a good GPA and did she go for an interview?

hey, i am a fresh man from china this year, i am very curious in which university she is going to?

She had a decent gpa 3.8. She did go for an interview.

@ Vogel: She’ll be at Fudan University. They are touring sites in Beijing today, but will end up in Shanghai next week at the school.

Friend of mine got in with a 31. He applied ED so that helped, but he was very focused in what he wanted to and I think he had a really kick ass interview

Cool. I guess interest is huge at WU.

It certainly is.

my friend transferred in with SAT’s all in the 500’s. Wash U looks for smart (not defined by perfect scores), hardworking and genuninely nice and caring people. She fit the student body personality really, really well and is doing great at Wash U. So I think all this hype about test scores is unfounded.

I am going to be a sophomore at Wash U in the Fall. When I applied I had taken the ACT twice and both times I got a 32 (I sent in both scores). I don’t remember if Wash U took the best of my scores, in which case I would have a 33. My application was by no means stacked and I applied RD.

Is it harder to get in EA than RD? And did you do an inteview or campus visit

WashU has ED. It is generally believed that ED applicants have a slight advantage, mostly because they are showing significant interest.

There’s no EA (Early Action), it’s ED (Early Decision, which is binding). It’s slightly easier to get in early decision.
Edit: Beat me to it, silverturtle.
